Humans of TAP: Paris Watkins “The natural world has always been something incredibly personal to me, as my grandmother ingrained in me the importance of nature from a very young age. When I was a toddler, she would take me out to her garden each day to help pick fruits and plant seeds with her, and the majority of the delicious meals she prepared for me came directly from this backyard. Because of my time with her I have always felt a profound connection to the natural world, and wanted to do all that I can to help preserve the beauty of it for everyone to have the joy of experiencing. Being in nature brings a deep sense of comfort and peace that cannot be replicated, and I want to help others see the value in protecting our incredible planet. I have always felt that I wanted to work in a career that benefits a greater good, and I have come to realize sustainability is the perfect specialty for this. I have gained so much knowledge on how to help combat climate change and spread awareness for sustainability during my time at Michigan, and am so excited to continue this journey through Theta Alpha Psi.”
