[ꜱᴏɴᴀʀ] I’ve been thinking about sound spaces and how we navigate them. When we enter spaces designed specifically for sound, we become attuned to it and consciously perceive what we hear. Sound itself is simultaneously navigating the space within our bodies and reflected in dance. A wide variety of sound experiences have taken me on journeys beyond what I thought I could possibly dream of, evoking spaces both real and imagined. With just the right environment, I see whole reels playing in my mind on the dancefloor.

▓ ▓ ▓

This year has become the year of event producing and hosting; the latest happening just last weekend to play with these ideas. I wanted to experiment with the typical format of the club night, so I asked @fanli_x to lead us through a meditation on sound to start the night. I had talented friends perform and it was grand: @particle.fields used his modular synth to take us from an ambient to techno. @potcookee and @mils.online got to experiment with sound in their dj sets, and @rozihtmusic closed the night by taking us to absolute dreamland with her ambient Muni bus ride she live improv’d over with her singing, electric cello, and piano… it ended on the sweetest note with her daughter there, falling asleep to her own voice in the music. 🥹♥️🔊

▓ ▓ ▓

More to come in the future, maybe? Lmk if you’re interested in exploring these ideas of sound spaces too 🤍🪞🫧🌀
