How do you say goodbye to something
you’ve poured your whole heart into for 11 years?

Saturday night,
we said goodbye together.

To everyone who showed up,
those who’ve been here since the beginning
and those who just found us:
thank you.
Hearing your stories reminded me
that this was always about more than racing.
It’s about bringing people together,
falling back in love with racing,
and inspiring each other
to create something of our own.

Most of all,
reminding women
they belong here,
not just as runners,
but as the people creating the races
and spaces we want to see.

This chapter is closing,
but the movement isn’t.
You don’t need permission
to create something meaningful.
Go build your race.
I can’t wait to run it. ✨⚡️

This was never just mine.
It was always ours.

And one last thank you to Stephen and Ashley, who have been by my side for 8+ years. You were my steady, reminded me of our why, and made sure these races always ran smoothly.

FREE LANCE  
A familiar word with an unexpected history.

In Walter Scott’s Ivanhoe, “free lances” were hired soldiers offering their services for payment. Over time, the expression came to describe independent work, and eventually the creative practice many of us know today.

That connection became the starting point for this Blender study. Based on a sixteenth-century tournament lance in the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum, five timber-and-iron forms move into position, pause, and withdraw in reverse.

A study in independent movement, shared composition, and the object behind a word we use every day.

@someminordetails sent over Object 06 | Crushed Can and asked me to build a scene with it. They said it didn’t have to be the focus – it ended up being the only thing in the room.

I wanted water to be the only thing touching it, which turned out to be harder than it sounds. Took me a while to realize you don’t aim at the can. You aim at the part of it that’s already moving away from you, like a paddle wheel.

Dutch, spray | A few frames after the water lands.

Ricochet, hit | a few frames after the water makes impact.

The lid | Close in. The drops are about two millimetres across, and getting them to actually sit on a surface rather than hover just above it took far longer than I’d like to admit.

Settled, wet floor | Nothing gets cleaned up between hits. By the end there are around 900 drops on the floor, all sitting exactly where they landed.

Wide | There’s no horizon in this set. The floor curves up and becomes the wall, so there’s nothing behind it from any angle.
