A highlight of the @edfringe was an unexpected intimate concert, where I sat on stage, closer than I’ve ever been to one of my musical inspirations. I was privileged enough to experience such bold, brave artistry, amongst a crowd of badass folk, who speak their truths.
I implore you to go see the tour. It will blow your mind, knock your socks off, make you feel things and more.

@amandapalmer @dresdendolls the don’t believe everything you read / hear on the internet tour.

Taking a moment to think about the journey I’ve been on before I tour with Pascol project in Edinburgh Fringe. It’s so easy to shift goal posts and feel like I’m never moving, but in actually fact, it wasn’t that long ago when I really wanted to be part of something just like this.

I remember thinking how stuck I was in the feeling of being in a band that felt like I was all the time pushing and throwing energy into it. I loved performing, but the industry started to strip away the joy of making and creating and within the band, it never quite felt equal.

I wanted something that felt like everyone was involved in the process of creating. I didn’t quite envisage that 5 years later I would be performing in two vocal performance groups and helping others to also feel the magic of this type of instantaneous, brave performance.

Every time I perform, it brings out something new in me, brings something more to the surface.

We’re once again inviting you to our joint event with the Pascol project — vocal circles. We tried hosting it here before, and it turned out to be absolutely incredible.

What are vocal circles? It’s a session for everyone — for those who can sing and those who think they can’t, for professional musicians and for people who can’t tell one note from another. Over the course of three hours, you squeak, hum, sing, make sounds, and learn to hear and listen to your body, to connect voice and movement, to sound together with others, to feel the support of the group and your own voice. It’s an ideal practice for absolutely anyone.

Who is it for?
• Those who’ve always wanted to try singing but never dared
• Those who sing occasionally and want to reconnect with inspiration
• Those who love music and want to experiment with their voice

Sasha Gefen is one of the creators of the vocal performance project Pascol (https://www.instagram.com/pascol_project
), a graduate of RBMA 2018, and a participant of the international residency 1beat.
