Please give the Abu Warda family 44 seconds of your time. Ahmed and @nagham_abu_warda_ need you to take a moment to spread their story to new potential d o n o r s. Every day gets harder and the children, Alma, little Ahmed and Ella need winter clothes and food. They do not have enough to eat and malnutrition is causing so many problems.

They are grateful for every single c o n t r I b I t i o n and want everyone to know that they wish they could thank everyone personally.

Sudan 🧡

Sudan's gold is a symbol of our rich heritage, and plays a central role in our rituals, ceremonies and celebrations.

I'm curious how much did you know about Sudan? 🌺

Song
Azza fi Hawak performed by the Choir of the Sudanese college of Music and Drama
Full 10-minute version https://youtu.be/LaT7ckcTW1o?si=rPj1Qdn5N0kJq6aw

Azza fi Hawak is a song I could write a separate essay about. Just know that it's a love letter to Sudan. For my fellow Sudanese, please share what عزة في هواك means to you ✨🙌🏾✨

🎨📏🧑‍🎨📲Amna resides in Gaza within the confines of a makeshift plastic tent. In moments of limited signal and internet access, she retreats to her drawing, finding solace and creative expression. Recognizing her talent and determination, I’ve provided her with an eSIM card to facilitate her enrollment as a visiting student in college. Amna, a gifted young artist, also carries the responsibility of being the elder sister to Alma. Let’s shine a light on Amna’s journey, celebrating her resilience and artistic prowess.

Urgent Update: Last night, a sudden attack forced my family to flee with just their backpacks. Now, they’re stranded with nowhere to turn. They’re too scared to go back after the IDF withdrew, fearing it might be a trap. Please, keep praying for my family and sweet Alma.

🚨 Watch the video of my nephew wandering aimlessly with my family and others. This marks their fourth evacuation from the same area. Share to spread awareness! https://gofund.me/15bd305a

Exploring the idea of “Mirror Images” and how when two ideas or “sides” that seem to oppose each other (upon closer inspection) may actually mutually support each other. For instance - as was pointed out recently “(Navalny) was both an opposition leader and a staunch Russian nationalist.” “Plenty has been written on Navalny’s nationalism, but more important was his transformation into an anti-corruption populist & the “oppositional mirror image of Putin.” It made him effective. It’s also why he was distrusted by so many outside Russia.”

This article is from 2020 but I think is still very relevant in terms of Russia/Putinism/Authoritarianism/the rise/overlap/normalization of white supremacist/MAGA aligned pro trump pro putin /self proclaimed “maga communists” who have pivoted to Pro-Palestine content the last few months. And while it doesn’t stop there, it extends to dynamics like “Narendra Modi’s friendship with Benjamin Netanyahu may seem to clash with India’s historic anti-colonial stances. Yet their collaboration is rooted in a long history of Hindutva admiration for Zionist ethnonationalism.” Also Navalny being hailed as some kind of liberatory opposition figure simply because he was “anti-Putin”. “ Despite his opposition, Navalny, who was half Ukrainian, has been distrusted or even despised by many in Ukraine for his previous comments on Ukrainian culture and Russia's occupation of Crimea.)”

In 2024, when calling for/implementing even a temporary ceasefire in Gaza has become a “radical” demand, can’t help but reevaluate the conditions we currently find ourselves in for this to be the current hellish baseline. Revisiting concepts of “individualism”, “collectivism”, 'nation', 'nation-state', 'nationalism', 'ethnic chauvinism', and 'ethnic imperialism' , “resistance”, for me continue to inform these perceptions/shifts/expansions which continue to bleed across borders.
