Some projects remind you exactly why you fell in love with this business.

I recently had the opportunity to serve as Director of Photography on Martin Lawrence Presents “Pass Tha’ Mic,” hosted by Jo Koy — a new multi-episode stand-up comedy discovery series.

Comedy presents a unique challenge visually. The audience needs to feel the timing, energy and intimacy in the room without the cameras ever getting in the way of the moment. Every angle, lens, lighting decision and reaction becomes part of the storytelling.

I’m proud of what our team created.

I’ll be sharing more from the production — and more from the journey — in the weeks ahead.

Working on Pass Tha’ Mic side by side with @itiscarissa for @martinlawrence and @jokoy was a dream come true.

You’re all going to love this show, so many talented comedians! Filmed all the BTS and helped film the interviews. Carissa shot all the photos!

✨14,000 submissions. 23 selected✨

I proudly speak to you as one of the 23.

This weekend, I had the opportunity of a lifetime, my first ever TV taping, performing as part of @martinlawrence and @jokoy’s Pass Tha Mic Comedy Series, directed and produced by the incredible @lesliesmall11.

I’m still trying to find the words to describe what this moment meant to me.

To step onto that stage and perform in the presence of two people who have reached the highest levels of this craft was surreal. But to also have the opportunity to shake their hands, speak with them offstage, share a few laughs, and simply be in that moment with them… that’s something I’ll carry with me forever.

There are moments you work toward, moments you pray for, and moments you’re not even sure you’ll ever get to experience.

This was one of those moments.

Hearing all those people scream. Seeing all that went into making this possible. The feeling of euphoria walking off that stage is something I’ll never forget. All the years, all the stages, all the late nights, all the work and then suddenly, you find yourself standing in a moment you once could only dream about.

I’m beyond grateful to everyone who made this opportunity possible. A special thank you to @lesliesmall11 for his direction, making the process seamless where comedians are given an opportunity like this to shine. And to @martinlawrence and @jokoy thank you for continuing to open doors, give back to comedy, and create opportunities for comedians to be seen on a stage of this magnitude.

And to everyone who has supported me, believed in me, showed up for me, and encouraged me along the way, I thank you. I love you. I will never let you down.
