What an experience Chicharra was. Very proud to have broken into TOP 10 for my first regional indie bout. Learned valuable lessons in advocating for myself. Touched Apache soil for the first time in 18 years, met some of the most incredible and supportive poets in the west, and re-discovered the joy of traveling with my @wehoslam babies. Onward and upward. This tournament is not ready for what I’m bringing next year 👠👹

Before the poet blood spills anew and we crown a new grand slam champion, I want to take a moment to shoutout my duo partner @thenatelovell . We’ve been teammates for 3 years at this point, and when we were randomly assigned together to perform a duo, we could’ve done one of our old hits…but we’ve both grown as writers, as humans, as collaborators, so we were ready to rise to the occasion of making something new. It’s so rare to find a collaborator you can compete with—even have a rivalry—and still create openly and honestly. I trust your pen. I trust your instincts. I trust our work. Let’s go rain some fire on the mic tonight. Won’t you join us?

For those of you following along at home, our duo scored the highest in the round and our combined scores with our indies put me in 1st and @nyaraefrancis in 2nd. So tremendously proud of this poet for showing up, showing out, and shutting that shit down. As always, thank you to @dapoetrylounge_co for cultivating a space where poets can come and practice community as a verb. Eternally grateful as well to @matthewcuban and @alyeshawise for their time and their talent coaching us for semifinals. What a night.

💫 TEAM BIG DICK 💫 SWIPE FOR THE JOURNEY

Before the poet blood spills and the score-igami begins tonight, I just wanted to take a moment to say how grateful I am to my duo partner @nyaraefrancis for her hard work, dedication to the piece, and ability to lock TF in. It’s not easy to draft, finalize, choreograph, and memorize a piece in less than 3 weeks; we did that shit. Come to @dapoetrylounge_co tonight and see just how good we look doing it.

$5 TO COME KICK IT AND CELEBRATE AT THE UGLY MUG ON THE 10th IF YOU CANT MAKE THE 11th. The toxic inventory I’ve been stuck with for months is finally ALMOST completely gone. COME OUT TO THE UGLY MUG on SEPTEMBER 10TH if you wanna come catch another feature and help me DUMP the rest of these copies! Just because the publisher sucked doesn’t mean the books do! Come celebrate the fact that I own my work again!
More exciting things in the works now that your favorite trans menace is freeeeeee!

Such a privilege and an honor to share the stage with these living legends, these queer trailblazers. Proof that we don’t just grow up, we can also become elders. So grateful for their work, for the doors they’ve broken down for our community, for the sacrifices this world forced them to make. If i earn even half the legacy and lifetime these folks have had, I’ll know I was a success.

I don’t know how many other ways I can tell you that you need to come see this show. This piece has grown and changed just as much as I have during these last three and a half years of sobriety. The comedy, the clarity, the unbelievably cute little puppets. This show has always been close to my heart, using a game that’s always been a safe vessel for my creativity. Yes, all of my work is vulnerable, but not all of my work is this FUN. Come see, come see.

I am beyond thrilled to announce that my award-winning solo show, originally developed as part of a residency at @calartsredcat partnership with @dapoetrylounge_co , is being REMOUNTED BABYYYY. 22 characters. One actor. One weekend only. Next weekend, specifically. DM ME FOR A DISCOUNT CODE. I just wanna get butts in seats. This was the first thing I performed after getting sober, and revisiting it after 3 years has been a mindfuck-and-a-half. Come roll the dice, come dance with language, come play with death, come, come.
