What a night. What a week. And what an honour to wear the hats of Host Committee Co-Chair and CCMA Board member, and to share my city with the country music community I love so much.

The two things I heard most this week: “Your city is so beautiful” and “Your people are so friendly.” (A close third: “Do you have free drink tickets?” The answer: yes 😄)

Huge thank you to the CCMA staff and Board, our incredible volunteers and Host Committee, and the entire country music community for bringing their best to Saskatoon.

This week meant a lot to me.

Proud of this city. Grateful for this community. Thank you Saskatoon 🤠

One of my favourite moments from @departurefest was something our team collectively brought to life — witnessing Maggie Kang receive the Key to the City of Toronto.

Standing on that stage alongside Maggie, our team, and Sheridan College felt incredibly full circle. A former Sheridan animation student from Toronto grows up to co-create an Academy Award-winning global phenomenon with KPop Demon Hunters… and then returns home to be honoured by her city for inspiring the next generation. That moment meant something.

It was bigger than an award. Bigger than a stage. It was proof.

Proof that creativity can change your life. Proof that Canadian talent belongs on the world stage. Proof that dreams that feel impossible are still possible.

That’s what Departure is really about. Creating spaces where students, artists, creators, and future leaders can physically see what’s possible for themselves. Not someday. Not somewhere else. Right here.

Watching Mayor Olivia Chow present Maggie with the Key to the City after her incredible conversation presented by Sheridan was such a powerful reminder of why community, mentorship, storytelling, and representation matter so much within the creative industry.

I’m just really proud of what our team created this year. The impact, the conversations, the opportunities, the energy in every room… it was special. And knowing this is only the beginning makes me even more excited for what’s ahead. ✨

@departurefest 2026 wrapped this past week and the energy across the city was incredible!

From packed sessions and unforgettable performances to the Departure Honours celebrating so many exceptional Canadian creators and standout film screenings, the week was a powerful reminder of the depth of creativity, entrepreneurship, and cultural talent across Canada.

It was great to see thousands of artists, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, media, and fans come together across Toronto for a week of conversations, collaboration, discovery, and live experiences that contribute meaningfully to the city’s creative and economic momentum!

Huge credit to the entire @departurefest team, leadership group, volunteers (because events like this simply do not happen without them!), partners, sponsors, artists, speakers, government supporters, media, and everyone behind the scenes who helped bring it to life.

This week showed what’s possible when Canada's creative community comes together - See you next year!
