Off my normal line of videos but this has been on my mind for a while. 16 ounces of mineral oil and 16 ounces of paraffin wax makes for a solid weather coating on your equipment/gear. I used wax paper and an iron to melt it into the material. Once melted into the material it doesn’t leave a residue on your skin nor create a flaky wax substance when you bend the material. Let me know if anyone else has tried this!

🌲 “We do not go to the green woods and crystal waters to rough it, we go to smooth it. We get it rough enough at home.” Nessmuk, Woodcraft and Camping (1884)

I think Nessmuk said it best. bushcraft is about making yourself comfortable outdoors with just a few tools, knowledge and what nature provides.

Leaving a special spot 🏞️ like this is always a little bittersweet, knowing you will probably never return. But that is also what makes the memories so valuable.

Luckily, @naturaleonie recently started watercolor painting, so now we have more than just photos to remember these places by. 🎨🌲

Top view in the Camp. My gear is all over the place 😅

Time to pack up again! The bigboy @silky_saws helped out a lot on that little tour!

Time to move on! We have a lot more to explore here in Norway 🇳🇴

Not sure what’s more fun, exploring by foot or with the canoe 🛶

Have a great weekend everyone ! 🌲 🇳🇴 🏕️

Water will kill you faster than almost anything else out there — and it’s the one thing you can’t carry enough of.

So you build a system. Not a gadget. A PACE plan.

This is my PACE water disinfection kit. Four independent methods, each with different strengths, different failure modes, and different conditions where it’s the right call.

P — PRIMARY: Grayl GeoPress Ti. Press-filter, fast, removes pathogens and improves taste. Mine runs the French press accessories (of course), and the titanium body means I can boil in it if I need to.

A — ALTERNATE: HydraPak Seeker 2L. Gravity/squeeze capability, packs down to nothing, lets me process volume while I handle other tasks.

C — CONTINGENCY: Aquatabs. No moving parts, no clog, no freeze damage. Weighs nothing. Works when hardware doesn’t.

E — EMERGENCY: Boil. Pathfinder nesting cup with lid. The oldest method on the list and the one that has never once failed anyone who had fire.

Every one of those gets fed by pre-filtering first — Millbank bag or shemagh — because sediment is what kills filters and wastes chemical treatment.

💬 Comment “WATER” and I’ll DM you the PACE Water Disinfection field card — 4x6, double-sided. One side is the full kit inventory. The other side is the PACE plan with the reasoning behind every selection and log-reduction performance data on what each system actually achieves against bacteria, protozoa, and viruses.

Full gear list and the reasoning in the pinned comment below. ⬇️
