Jacket goals. 🔥 In January, Sam Wheeler, who is married to Blake Wheeler, contacted Pat Lazo, the artistic director of the Graffiti Gallery (@graffitiartprog), to design custom-made jackets for the playoffs for 21 girlfriends and wives of Jets players. · Sam wanted to show the city that support is not just a one way street. "This city is so supportive of the team that we knew the only way to get these jackets right was to find a local artist who shares that same passion." · Pat's been painting murals on walls and buildings around Winnipeg for the better part of 26 years, but he was surprised by the offer. His hand-painted varsity jackets sport the Jets logo, a maple leaf on the right arm, and a variety of patches on the back. The players' numbers and names are done in a graffiti font. -- See more of this story on cbc.ca/manitoba. #lovecbcmb #gojetsgo #wpgwhiteout #wearewpg #winnipegjets #nhlplayoffs #graffitigallery #nhljets #stanleycupplayoffs

A big thank you to @mrcenzone for helping us celebrate our 20th anniversary! Over two weeks, Mr. Cenz installed an exhibit in the gallery, and painted two murals in the city. One at Ndinawe to honour Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, and one @theforkswinnipeg to honour Jai Pereira. Go check out these amazing murals and come by the gallery to see the exhibit, on until September 14.

In case you missed it: Duets - Street Smart tackled the issue of public safety from the perspectives of grassroots advocacy, art programming, and environmental design in Saturday’s Free Press. We were pleased to have the Graffiti Gallery co-founders, Steven Wilson and artist Pat Lazo ; James Favel, the Executive Director of the Bear Clan Patrol Inc.; and Andrew McCrea, founder of the Smashed Window Club in River Heights join our own Heather Cram, Glen Manning, and Maureen Krauss in this meaningful discussion. #winnipeg #designforlivingthings #publicsafety #loveyourneighbourhood.
