Wanted to start sharing more making of footage, partly because I get message asking how things were done, and partly because I’ve started noticing people discovering my work leaving comments like “AI” or “AI… yawn”, when it was made in camera.

It’s interesting how AI image making has changed the way we approach work, which seems to make sharing the context and process more useful. With the ground under our feet feeling more liquid, rethinking what we once knew feels inescapable. A great idea, a distinct voice and a clearly communicated point of view feels more important than ever, when work is so easily dismissed as low effort AI. I’ve said it before, but this moment in time and technology is showing us, or perhaps helping clarify, what we truly value. And time and time again, that seems to come back to how we relate to one another on a human level.

The first few slides are from the EYEYE videos for @lykkeli starting with “Carousel”. A piece shot using a 48 stills camera rig firing in rapid succession, each with an adjustable exposure time allowing us to control the motion blur. What I love about long exposure is how it shows us something we can’t see: time as more than a passing instant, but stretched out and made visible.
Each take gave us 48 frames, or 2 seconds of footage. This meant choreographers @imrevanpostal.marnevanpostal had to build a dance routine that could be broken into 2-second increments for the performers. The whole piece came together over two days of shooting roughly 40 separate movements. It was so exciting watching all the individual pieces come together, each one so expressive and full of feeling.

Other slides show the custom 360 rotating snorricam-like rig that @shainsworth built using a lazy susan from a restaurant supply store.

so many firsts in our 3rd year together!

Patrick and I pitch and putted, raved & partied, and attended weddings together. We danced, we made Max jealous, we celebrated our friends and family members. We went to a Whitecaps game, a cheer competition, did the Grouse Grind a couple times, and biked around the seawall.

Biggest change was moving in together! Creating our home, a new routine, and enjoying quiet nights in on the couch in a cuddle puddle after a busy day(s) 👩🏻‍❤️‍💋‍👨🏻🐕‍🦺

This last year together, I got to see first hand not only how hard Patrick works professionally, but also how much he shows up for and deeply cares for loved ones.

Grateful for 3️⃣🥂🥰 can’t wait for more sunsets on the rooftop and afternoon ice cream runs this summer!
