Patrick told me, it’s like surfing. For older, more reckless guys. I just earned my badge “I’m alive” doing 1200km of Southern Vietnam. My favorite places were Vung Tau and Saigon. Mui Ne...Bao Loc interesting, Dalat bad weather but stunning place, we did have some good weather though the next morning. Then it turned evil, at the pass to Nha Trang, 1500m straight down hill. In a cloud, torrential rain and mad trucks, buses (Kim reckons the 16 seaters were the worst), and every other being one cares to imagine. Pat told me it’s like surfing. It is. The tales of the journey, the memories, the meetings and friendships. I get bikers. It’s the real deal. Pat told me a motorbike tour evolves, just like any other. But you’re risking your life constantly. That’s the buzz I guess. I only had 1 truly life before my eyes moment. An old woman on a Honda Cub 50cc pulling straight out I front of me from a side street, care free, stand still down, inconveniently I had a Toyota Camry on my left no where to go...I d love to see the replay to see how I exactly didn’t perish. Anyway. The world has been having “backyard holidays” as we are contained by circumstances. There’s some pretty amazing stuff in our backyards.

How good is dropping in on your ol man !!
Pops and I circa mid 80's back beach Crescent Head. I had a couple of guns for Indo shaped by Peter Cornish that year and Pops was on my 6'8" channel bottom pin tail .Im riding a 6'1" board shaped by Jammie Kebby from Port Mcquarie who was working for Pete at that time. Jammie was a great surfer and I often wonder how good a shaper Jammie could have become also, that board was magic and probably about his 5th shape at the time .He hung up the planner not long after and pursued other art forms... #thearm
