First and foremost, Happy Pride Month to everyone!! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈As some of you may know, both Pat and I come from very heteronormative families, who we love dearly, and we were both terrified about coming out. What we came to learn many, many years down the road is that our families love us for who we are, our friends love us for who we are, and we have never felt happier than being out, loud, proud. And if this can help any single individual, our age, older, younger, whoever they may be, to feel more comfortable with being themselves, we want them to see this and understand that there is happiness outside of discomfort and what some people would say is pain, which is not pain at the end of the day, it’s growing pains. But there’s so much love out here in the world, and we just wanna wish everyone a very happy Pride from the very closest parts of our hearts. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈 #pride #husbands #lgbtq🌈

Twenty years ago, a rare disease left our founder, R. David New, deaf, blind, and paralyzed. He learned to walk again. He regained his hearing. He never regained his sight — but he gained a mission: to make the arts accessible to all.

Yesterday we laid my mother, Nildita, to rest in the land she so deeply loved. She wasn’t perfect, but she was transparently loving and genuinely kind. Everyone who knew Nildita remembers her as charismatic and contagiously lovable.

Our family came together in the middle of the storm to share one last kiss and offer one last flower. Mami, you were so deeply loved. I will always carry you in my heart… Not a single day has gone by in these past six weeks that I haven’t thought of you or missed your laughter. We love you, Mami—thank you for all the love you gave us. To me, you were the perfect mother ❤️ I love you 🕊️ you are at peace now 🙏🏼

Every January, the South Beach Jazz Festival brings world-class jazz to Miami Beach. And all year long, we present live jazz across the city - much of it free, accessible, and rooted in the community.

Now, a proposed 50% cut to the Miami-Dade Department of Cultural Affairs - along with a plan to merge it with the Library Department — puts that work in jeopardy. This could slash resources, limit programming, and weaken the vibrant arts ecosystem we’ve built together.

This isn’t extra. It’s essential. The arts create 32,000 local jobs, generate $2.1 billion in economic impact, and keep Miami Beach’s cultural heartbeat strong.

We’re calling on Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Miami-Dade leaders to:
✅ Restore full arts funding
✅ Keep the Department of Cultural Affairs independent
✅ Protect the cultural life of Miami Beach for generations to come
