TAAF is proud to partner with @sundanceorg for the fourth year of the Sundance Institute | The Asian American Foundation Fellowship and Scholarship, welcoming 12 AAPI fellows and scholars working in film and television to immerse themselves in @sundanceorg's artist community, resources, and mentorship to push their projects toward the screen.

"Our 2026 STAATUS Index found that 39% of Americans can't name a single famous Asian American, and when people do picture us on screen, martial arts stars are often the first thing that come to mind," said Norman Chen, CEO of TAAF. "We're excited to welcome this year's cohort, whose films span horror, comedy, and documentary, family sagas and heist films, showcasing the range of storytelling this community has to offer."

“Through funding and mentorship, we’re helping artists bring bold, authentic stories to the screen and reach audiences across communities,” said Hajnal Molnar-Szakacs, Director, Artist Accelerator and Women at @sundanceorg. “We’re excited to champion this year’s fellows and scholars and see where their voices take us.”

Each artist will receive the Artist Accelerator Program's year-round support: hands-on guidance and bespoke project support, access to script consultancies, invitations to professional development programming, and more. Additionally, Fellows will receive a $20,000 non-recoupable grant and Scholarship recipients are paired with a Sundance Institute alumni mentor. We are grateful to our founding partners @officialpandaexpress and @macfound for making this possible.

The BAVC MediaMaker Fellowship is looking for documentary filmmakers across the country committed to creative, ethical, and collaborative nonfiction practices.

➡️ Here’s a look at some of the filmmakers who have made up the MediaMaker Fellowship over the past few years.

Remember, this year we’re introducing a two-step application process to save applicants time and help us identify eligible candidates. First, submit a brief Intent to Apply form. Eligible applicants will then be invited to complete the full application.

Our cohort comprises filmmakers who demonstrate community leadership, both within or outside the nonfiction film industry, and who are looking to strengthen the creation and impact of documentary storytelling. As A-Doc celebrates our 10-Year Anniversary, this cohort honors our collective reimagining of a documentary ecosystem rooted in mutual care, sustainability, and accessibility. We’re excited to be in community with everyone in less than 2 weeks!
