Returning to the inbox and phoneline on Monday morning, following an incredible awareness campaign- we are immediately reminded of the day-to-day reality for kinship care.

This nanny has spent 10months of 10hour days getting her grandson to school, despite being approved in January for school transport to his autism unit.

This is an ongoing live issue- if you can support in your role to get this boy his school bus, please contact us. We have contacted the SENO, department of education, the school, spokespersons for education/disability. Lets get *Paul his bus driver so his nanny can access her medical appointments and peer groups and sustain her role without this unnecessary fight.

Two days in Ireland focused on connectivity, trusted AI and European innovation.

In Limerick, EU Telecom Ministers discussed the Digital Networks Act, subsea cables, network resilience and young people’s safety online.

At the AI Summit in Dublin, my message was clear: Europe must build its own AI capabilities, keep AI under human control and put it to work across our economy, from detecting cancer earlier to making power grids smarter.

Together with the Irish Presidency, we also launched the European AI Innovation Month: nearly 100 events across Europe, leading up to the Apply AI Summit in Brussels on 17 November. 🚀

Budget 2027 Response by Ardán on behalf of the Western AV Forum/ Freagra ar Bhuiséad 2027 thar ceann WAVF.

Ardán has welcomed Minister Patrick O’Donovan’s continued support for regional screen-sector development and the strategic importance of digital games, while also expressing disappointment that Budget 2027 did not include the measures needed to turn that support into sustained industry growth.

The Western AV Forum reiterates calls
for a Regional Section 481 Uplift, a Regional Screen Producers’ Fund and dedicated Games Investment.

“While Budget 2027 missed a vital opportunity to strengthen Ireland’s competitiveness by omitting the Regional Section 481 Uplift and a dedicated games strategy, the underlying potential of our screen sector remains strong. To maintain momentum, we must establish a permanent regional incentive, invest in Irish-owned IP, and provide a dedicated development pipeline for games studios. Strengthening the sector also requires sustained agency funding. Standstill funding for Screen Ireland and TG4 represents a cut amid rising costs, threatening
regional production ecosystems.” - Alan Duggan, CEO of Ardán & Chair of WAVF

In 2026, the Western AV Forum comprises 55+ member screen
companies & organisations from the West & Northwest of Ireland.

Ardán, on behalf of WAVF, has confirmed that it will continue, alongside its partners at Screen Producers Ireland, Animation Ireland and Film in Limerick, to engage constructively with Government, Screen Ireland, local authorities and industry partners on the measures.

🇳🇴🇪🇺 Norway’s Minister of Digitalisation and Public Governance, Torgeir Micaelsen, was in Limerick today for the Informal EU Telecommunications Ministers’ Meeting.

Amongst other topics, today’s agenda focused on:
📡 The Digital Networks Act
📡 Satellite connectivity
📡 The transition to fiber and market regulation

With a new national AI strategy on the way, as well as the recent joint call for control of AI development with Finland and other leading countries, Norway welcomes the opportunity to exchange views on how to harness the potential of AI while safeguarding safety and security.

We look forward to continuing these discussions at tomorrow’s AI Summit.
