Gimbal VS Handheld Shots 🎥

I want to share with you my filming technique, especially when filming a dance video; I capture at least 2 different takes:

SHOT 1: "Safe" Gimbal Shot
Gimbal movement will be necessary to achieve that smooth shot, especially when paired with a wide lens. I call this the "safe" shot since the clip that will mainly be used will be the gimbal shot.

SHOT 2: "Crazy" Handheld Shot
Handheld shots are helpful to add tension when capturing the performance. I crank my shutter speed up to capture the fast motion movement of the dancers. I call this the "crazy" shot since this take will be used between shots/minor variations in the dance video.

Do you prefer the Gimbal Shot or the Handheld Shot? Let me know in the comments below! 🙌🏻

I hope you learned something from this! 🔥
