natural confessions .01 ||

saudade (noun) — pronounced sow-dah-jee
portuguese origin.

an aching longing for something absent or irretrievable;
the tenderness of what can no longer arrive, still lived inside the body as devotion.

we arrange beautiful things around ourselves like the bowerbird, feverishly tender, & completely convinced that beauty might save us from being overlooked. we prepare for the life we think we deserve. isn’t that heartbreaking? & a little holy.. all this shimmering evidence of wanting?

— had a deeply cathartic shoot day with gabby. inspired by that shadowed threshold as you cross into the full spectrum of womanhood. we moved through themes of death-rebirth, femininity. (some of my favorite terrain.)
can't wait to keep listening to this energy and letting it shape my work this year. ♡
