What if fashion could respond more closely to what people actually choose? That possibility is one of the reasons VARNINI® chose a Made-to-Order, inventory-light approach. Across fashion, closer alignment between production and real demand creates an opportunity to use materials, skills and resources more thoughtfully. The European Environment Agency estimates that 4–9% of textile products placed on the European market are destroyed before ever being used for their intended purpose - showing why better demand alignment deserves attention. There is more than one way forward. Better forecasting can reduce unsold inventory, while WRAP - the Waste and Resources Action Programme - also recommends considering Made-to-Order business models, where possible, as an approach to addressing overproduction. @varnini.in, our stories and designs are developed first. The customer then chooses, and the individual sellable piece is substantially completed closer to that confirmed choice. Made-to-Order becomes even more meaningful when accompanied by thoughtful materials, considered construction, care, longevity and continued use. For us, responsible fashion is therefore a continuing practice of making increasingly considered choices. Make with intention. Create closer to confirmed demand. Make pieces worth choosing and valuing. Swipe through to explore how the timing of demand can influence fashion production. Explore VARNINI® made-to-order sarees and fabric stories at www.varnini.in, or DM “CHOSEN” to begin your inquiry.
