Australia’s leading specialists in the design, fabrication and installation of custom shade structures and event fabrics

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We recently headed out to Our Big Kitchen 🥕 with Dan from Pattons 💙 to install a fresh shade sail for their outdoor space. OBK does incredible work feeding those in need, and it was a privilege to provide the protection they need to keep their mission moving.

There’s nothing better than seeing our fabrics play a part in a space that gives so much back.

Day 1 - Canberra to Hay

Things kicked off on Saturday from a chilly Canberra and driving through Yass, Gundagai and Wagga Wagga. Such a great buzz to take off with 224 other cars!

We had a small issue which we thought was our clutch burning, but turns out one of our brakes had seized. Quick fix and back on the road for the Peugeot to live another day!

Beautiful sunset and camping under the stars. Bring on day 2!

Just won the N.S.W Health, SESLHD: Collaborative Staff Member of the Year 2021! for my: 'Maroubra Centre- Inspiring Recovery' refurbishment project! 😁🙏💖

In case you've been wondering what I've been doing along side my Mental Health Peer Work for 2 and a half years:

I embarked on a mission to make our Community, Mental Health Centre more welcoming, inspiring and trauma- informed for our clients and staff wellbeing.

With no Project Management or interior design experience, I knew what the vision was and more importantly, I knew "why" I was doing it. This helped me in the challenging times and also gave me the drive to continue.

As a former client, many years ago; when I found out I would be working there and saw that it had barely changed and still looked institutional, dull and not inspiring at all, it made me wonder... was this hindering Mental Health clients recovery?

In addition, if the hospitals were getting more and more renovations to help clients recovery IN hospital but when they transition back into the community and the community centre still looks institutional and doesn't inspire recovery, would clients lean towards wanting to go back into hospital where it was comfortable, 24 hr care, TV's in rooms, other clients to talk to and even feature walls in rooms?

Although not easy to find, there are research papers on interior design (and although hard to prove with quantitative data) can improve mood, de-escalate aggression and make people feel safe.

The project is nearly finished and in the photos there are some before and after shots. Let me know what you think.

Thank you to everyone who have made donations and helped with this project. We have collaborated with Greg and Alex from the Randwick Rotary (now Botany) who made a significant donation to kick start the project. Nathan from Taubmans Paint, Leon Nizhnikov from Paint Proof, Tom and Dan from Pattons- shade installation, Emma and Belinda from Bunnings, my amazing colleague Keith Donnelly, staff who have helped so much and also donated different items, N.S.W Health, SESLHD, and the project would not have gained any traction without Max Simensen, Hollie Johnson, Mike Gatsi and Kim Millar.

This mindblowing 220sq metre backdrop was created for the West Side Story by the Sydney Harbour.

It required a single cloth being used for five different scenic applications throughout the show utilising different lights, print methods and fabrication techniques 🤩
