…

You weren’t just my big brother you were the one I looked up to and wanted to be like from day one, the one I could talk to about anything (though at times I’m sure you wanted nothing to do with a few of those conversations), the other half who truly knew what it felt like day in and day out to miss Dad, the one who’d put me in my place when I needed to be grounded and leveled out, the one who showed and taught me what family was about, the one who could always make me happy by simply smiling, the one who reminded me to always embrace the good with the bad, the one who would listen no matter what I had to say (which was always a lot), the one who took on my burdens and mistakes as your own and helped me to fix and learn from them, the one who gave me the best Sister-in-Law and Boogers a girl could ever ask for, the one who could have me laughing when you started singing “As the snow flies on a cold and gray Chicago morning” or “She was a fast machine, she kept her motor clean,” and the one who appreciated, cared and loved me like no one else

There are no emotions or words that could ever describe how much I miss you or how terribly empty some days are without you here but I’m truly grateful and thankful every day that for the rest of my life I’ll get to tell your namesake all about his Uncle and every time we pass by a Dick’s Sporting Goods we’ll get to swing by your portrait and say hello

Dammit I wasn’t ready, thirty one years just were not enough, I wanted more and oh how I needed more…

So here’s to sending the biggest Happy Happy 60th Birthday wishes to the absolute BEST big brother a sister could ever have asked for and have had

I love you T-Roy with all of my heart and there will never, ever be a day when I don’t think of you, give Dad a hug for me
