A Manifest of Gratitude. 🤩

They once said that walls divide people.
Tonight, these walls became a meeting place.

They once said that art belongs to collectors.
Tonight, it belongs to everyone who walked through this door.

They once said that space is empty until it is filled.
Tonight, you filled this space—with your presence, your conversations, your curiosity.

I stand here not alone.

I stand with every artist who kept working when nobody was looking.

I stand with every friend who carried a painting, hung a frame, opened a bottle, shared a post, believed before there was proof.

I stand with every visitor who understands that looking is already an act of participation.

This gallery is more than a room.

It is a promise.

A promise that ideas still matter.
That handmade things still matter.
That risk still matters.
That independent culture still matters.

Art does not ask for permission.

Art opens doors.

Art interrupts silence.

Art reminds us that another way of seeing is always possible.

So tonight I do not simply say thank you.

I say:

Thank you for believing.

Thank you for showing up.

Thank you for giving these works a second life through your eyes.

If these objects continue to breathe after this evening, it is because of you.

Let this not be the end of an opening.

Let it be the beginning of a conversation.

Together, we shape our space.

Thank you.

— Johannes Steininger

Through condensed figures and lines, Bissspuren des Menschseins explores the fragile web of human closeness, vulnerability, and connection.

The exhibition takes the form of a site-specific artistic intervention at the artist’s former studio at Fleischmarkt—temporarily transforming a place of past creation into a space of encounter, memory, and presence.

Kitzmüller’s works invite viewers to discover traces of their own humanity: quietly, intensely, and open to personal resonance.

Opening:
January 30, 2026 · 5:00 pm
Opening speech by Gunther Laher

Exhibition dates:

Seestadt Symposium Day 2: Spotlight on the Artists

Day 2 of our symposium placed the vibrant connection between art and environmental conservation at the heart of our programme.

Presentations from and discussions with the artists set the tone for a day filled with artistic expression and meaningful dialogue on sustainability and climate action.

The day was a celebration of our international artists, Jenny Marketou (Greece), Kamila Chomicz (Poland) and Austria-based local artists Anny Wass, Paul Kitzmüller, Daniel Böswirth, and Daniil Sukhov who showcased their Seestadt-informed works developed during their residency.

Dr. Liz Gardiner, and artist and curator Karl Kilian led the conversation with the artists, offering insights into their inspiration, creative journey and how art responds to pressing issues like the environment and urban development.

Additionally, project partners including Wiener Bildungsakademie (Austria), Urban Culture Institute (Poland), Artit (Greece), Intercult (Sweden), and Fablevision (Scotland) presented the artistic works produced as part of the TTT Local Urban Labs!

As the day unfolded, attendees had the chance to explore works by @jmarketou @kamilachomicz @annywass @paul.kitzmueller and @sevenpoems_sevendays in the gallery space of @aspernseestadt, including the cartopological representation of Vienna - a map produced by @dearhunter.eu, as well as outdoor installations by Jenny Marketou and Anny Wass that beautifully blend art and nature.

Stay tuned for more snaps from our Vienna visit, and a lot more on our artists! ✨
