What a wonderful afternoon spent with bestselling author Maggie O’Farrell as we celebrated the launch of her highly anticipated new novel, Land.

Our audience was captivated as Maggie shared insights into the inspiration behind this sweeping and deeply moving story, exploring family, history, landscape and belonging. Inspired by the mapping of Ireland in the mid-nineteenth century, Land weaves together buried secrets, ancient woodland, loyal companions and the enduring impact of place across generations.

It was a privilege to hear from the award-winning author of Hamnet and so many beloved novels, and to mark the arrival of what is sure to be another unforgettable book.

Thank you to Maggie and to everyone who joined us for such a memorable event!

Thank you @dublinbookfest for the wonderful invitation to interview Joseph O’Connor as part of Dublin City Libraries Readers’ Day! And thanks to everyone who came along - we had a full house in the Great Hall at @immaireland and a brilliant chat about The Ghosts of Rome, Joe’s latest thrilling novel set in wartime Rome.
A sequel to My Father’s House, together the two books tell the gripping true story of the ‘Escape Line’ in the Vatican where Monsignor Hugh O’Flaherty, Delia Murphy and her daughter Blon, and other members of ‘The Choir’ risked their own lives to save the lives of an estimated 7,000 people from the Nazi occupiers. It’s a beautifully-written page-turner, a literary thriller which brings to vivid life the beauty and terror of Rome during WW2. Can’t wait for part 3 of the trilogy - due out in late 2026 and set in 1940s London.

The Ghosts of Rome is up for two awards at @irishbookawards 🥇🗳️

Paul Lynch In Conversation with Paula Shields

Paul Lynch describes his 2023 Booker Prize-winning Prophet Song as “an attempt at radical empathy.” A deeply human portrait of one woman’s fight to hold her family together, the novel imagines a chilling, totalitarian-state future for Ireland - one that echoes the current realities faced by so many around the world.

Among other prizes, Paul has won the Kerry Group Irish Novel of the Year and France’s Prix Libr’à Nous for Best Foreign Novel. He has been shortlisted for numerous international awards, including Italy’s Strega European Prize, France’s Prix du Meilleur Livre Étranger, Prix Littérature-Monde and the Jean Monnet Prize for European Literature. In 2024, he was appointed Distinguished Writing Fellow at Maynooth University and elected to Aosdána, the Irish academy for the arts that honours distinguished artists.

Join us to hear Lynch discuss his devastating vision of a country at war, the dangers of complacency, and the power of fiction to illuminate the possible.
