I still can’t believe it’s been almost 7 years. I still remember that Monday vividly, as if it was yesterday. I still hate corporate finance but I’m forever thankful for that experience because it showed me exactly where I didn’t need to be. It’s been a very eventful 7 years of life. I went from quitting a dead-end yet stable finance job to getting gaslit everyday just for a retail employee discount on Chrome Hearts to a global pandemic to 3 bittersweet years working in the “footwear industry” to a few life changing experiences with adidas to now. Sprinkled in a few 🇵🇷 trips too. Words can’t really describe this rollercoaster ride. I met a lot of amazing people along the way and lost a few as well, but I’m grateful I can hug my immigrant Taishanese parents everyday still.

Seven years later, I’m back at the same spot. Still the same Johnny, but maybe a little bit more mature and humble now. Jumper still works too. The vision is clearer and the goals are a bit more global now. But I’ll never forget my roots, my family, and my community. I’m nothing without them.

I hope my grandparents, Dwad, Bowers, Kellz, and Davis are proud of me. I hope my parents are proud of me. I hope my community is proud of me. But most importantly, I hope 17 year old Johnny is proud of me.

Because we really chased our dreams kid.

And we’re not stopping anytime soon.

Boston. She wasn’t kind, and never tried to be, a cold that cuts through your bones and streets that feel like they’ve seen too much and don’t care if you make it through the night, and then COVID hit and the city went quiet like someone pulled the plug on everything human, but somehow that’s when it got louder for me, empty trains and locked doors and places I had no business being in, camera in hand doing things I probably shouldn’t admit out loud, photographing UFC fighters through broken lenses like the glass had been in more fights than they had, shooting fashion on a toy camera that had no right working, dragging hundred-year-old film bodies onto beaches and through back rooms where nothing about it made sense, cherry blossoms buried under fresh snow like the seasons forgot what they were doing, warehouse parties that felt illegal in more ways than one, like the whole world had slipped off its axis and we were just riding it out in the dark, and the photos came out the same way it all felt, loud, colorful, a little unhinged, alive, because that’s what Boston was, unforgiving and tough as hell, but somehow still a damn good time. As a creative enthusiast, Stanley Rameau channels life’s intricate nuances into his work as both a visionary fashion designer and tech founder. Through his multifaceted projects, Stanley inspires others to embrace risk, embark on transformative journeys, and discover their finest selves.

Our Multiplicities artist cohort is a beautiful manifestation of the power that exists in creative resilience. Nucarta aims to highlight that solution-focused equity conversations must begin with acknowledgement of the past and present, and they must discuss the significance of community resilience: we must take a moment to honor and appreciate this dynamic resilience that so innately flows within our Black, Brown and minority communities. DAY 1 of our official unveiling of Multiplicities: An Artistic Exploration of Racial Disparities in Cancer Outcomes at @mit @kochinstitutemit fully embodied the core essence of our @nucarta.co arts and racial health equity movement: Artists are our key change agents and the ultimate healers who must be at the forefront of this conversation. ✨

Thank you to our remarkable Multiplicities artist cohort - Ifé Franklin, Ryan Horton, Nygel Jones, Stanley Rameau, and Bianca Rose, whose talents and personal stories breathed life into this exhibition. Your work and your contributions to the Artist Talk were nothing short of extraordinary. Thank you for your vulnerability, your fearlessness, and your creative resilience. Special congratulations to Ifé, who received our Nucarta Honorary Artist Award for her outstanding contributions to the Arts. 💫

ARTIST ANNOUNCEMENT 📣  We are thrilled to announce the dynamic @stanleyrameau will be showing at “Multiplicities: An Artistic Exploration of Racial Disparities in Cancer Outcomes.” ✨  This exhibit consists of thought-provoking artworks that speak to the current state of cancer inequities and starts the conversation around the need for our communities to feel empowered to actively shape our health outcomes, particularly in the realm of cancer.  Our opening night, timed to celebrate the Cambridge Science Festival's Health Equity Day, will include talks from the artists, and a chance to mingle with creatives, community members, local scientists, engineers, health equity advocates, innovators, and health professionals.
