Let me introduce you to my people 🫶

4 years ago I came to Ripon College, and I legit put my blood, sweat, and tears into this place. On a Tuesday after my last college final exam ever, I went into the ER and had my appendix surgically removed so it didn’t you know, kill me. I legit gave an organ for that place😂 In the last couple years I had fought with some pretty intense bouts of depression. I withdrew, I isolated, the only thing I could ever dream of was leaving. However Ripon gave me three things I’ll never forget. My brothers at Phi Delta Theta, which I formed a bond with that got up me up in the morning, that made me smile, and made it worth waking up for just one more day, my undoubtably long term partner Valerie Bruce, offering absolutely unwavering support and care when I needed it most, and a chance to make my father proud. Hell, I still feel like it’s not even enough😅. You can tell by my father’s overly ecstatic face that he’s very… expressive… not😂but I know without a doubt that he is so incredibly proud of me, hard for me to comprehend even, something I’ve only ever been searching for… my entire life, someone who has supported me for as long as I could breathe fresh air, who has put me in such an incredible debt to him for everything he has ever provided for me as a single father doing it all on his own. I can only ever hope to become half the man he is. Dad, just like the rest of my life, during my tenure at college, you were always there to lift me up and provide me with the support needed, even if you didn’t know how, you always found a way. I’m forever indebted to you. For what it’s worth, I’m also proud of you too, you have changed and grown so much alongside me these last four years too, you and I have struggled a lot over the course of the last 22 years in general, I’ve seen you at your worst, and now I’m seeing you at your best, but we’ve always had each other. That’s more than any school, or anything could ever offer a human in their lifetime. I love you, and I did it Dad, I did it for you.
