The Bandier Capstone class is required for all Bandier students and taught by Program Director and publisher of Full Rate No Cap (an aggregation and analysis of weekly music industry stories, with posts starting up again in the next few weeks) Bill Werde. In this class students are tasked with building a for-profit business that centers around their interests and prior experience in terms of internships and classes. As our current group of students start to create their projects, check out this class overview from Bill Werde himself featuring some of the businesses from last semester.

One of our favorite Bandier traditions is Senior Words of Wisdom. Our last few Convo classes were dedicated to hearing parting words from our graduating seniors, and this year they did not disappoint. Although we will miss seeing them on campus, we can’t wait to see what the future holds for the Class of 2024! 🧡

“All the world is birthday cake, so take a piece but not too much,”

I have met the most amazingly wonderful people this past semester and I am beyond grateful to be in the presence of such positivity and love every day :) Thank you to everyone who has made 2024 the best year ever so far.

#sxsw felt like an incredible week packed into 38 hours in Austin. Two panels, one hip-hop legend (@therulernyc ) , a party in a mushroom house, countless incredible friends, tacos (thanks @laynelindroth for the reccs), so many awesome @bandierprogram students, and a band that currently has my heart in @shallowalcove . Special thanks to @deezer and @agnesblabla for inviting me to moderate one of the panels, and to @rellish & @reservoirmedia for the other.

#rezakrecap In yesterday’s Rezak lecture we had the privilege of welcoming Co-President of Black Music at Atlantic Records, Lanre Gaba ‘99. She discussed her role as an executive and walked us through the different sectors of Atlantic that she oversees, including work in A&R, touring, marketing, and much more. She also shared a lot of detail and insight about the process of signing a new artist, emphasizing the importance of spending time with an artist before saying yes. Further, she stressed how much she enjoys seeing an artist grow first-hand. Thank you so much for spending your Wednesday with us Lanre!

#rezakrecap While the music business can be extremely exciting, it can also be a very high pressure and stressful environment. And while the majority of people have every intention of putting their mental, physical, and emotional health first, not everyone has the tools to actually do so. In yesterday’s Rezak Lecture we had the unique opportunity of welcoming Integrative Health Coach, Marni Wandner. Through her company Marni Wandner Coaching, Marni helps professionals in the industry build sustainable and balanced lives. She walked us through her career path, and her day to day as a coach. And she offered insightful advice and best practices on staying grounded, confident, and strong in such a competitive industry. Thank you so much for joining us Marni!
