— One difficult moment is enough.

You don't need to add THREE more problems to it.

You make a mistake.

That's what happened.

But then...

“I'm playing terrible.”

“Nothing is going my way.”

“I always do this.”

Now you're no longer responding to ONE moment.

You're responding to the STORY you've started building around it.

And that story gets HEAVY.

This doesn't mean you ignore the mistake.

If there's something to LEARN from the rep...

LEARN IT.

If there's something to ADJUST...

ADJUST IT.

But don't turn one difficult moment into evidence that everything is going wrong.

ADVERSITY is already heavy enough.

Stop giving it extra WEIGHT.

Deal with WHAT HAPPENED.

Not everything your mind wants to make it MEAN.

That's how you STAY IN IT.

DON'T ADD TO IT. ⚔️

Have you ever walked away from a performance thinking...

“That just wasn't ME.”

Then another day everything is clicking and you think...

“THAT'S the athlete I know I can be.”

It's easy to start believing there are different versions of you.

Locked-in you.

Struggling you.

Confident you.

Mistake-making you.

And when the version you WANT isn't showing up, you start trying to GET BACK to that athlete.

But here's the shift...

There aren't two athletes.

There's ONE athlete experiencing different performances.

Sometimes you'll feel completely locked in.

Sometimes you'll have to fight through it.

Sometimes you'll perform exactly the way you know you can.

Sometimes you won't.

But you're still YOU.

You don't have to go searching for some better version of yourself every time things get difficult.

That athlete didn't disappear.

Your PERFORMANCE changed.

YOU didn't.

The work is continuing to develop ONE athlete — through the great performances, the difficult ones, and everything in between.

Because a strong athletic identity isn't something you have to keep finding again.

It's something you keep building.

Different PERFORMANCE.

Same ATHLETE. ⚔️

Your PERFORMANCE is allowed to tell you something.

It's just not allowed to tell you WHO YOU ARE.

After a difficult performance, there are things worth looking at.

What worked?

What didn't?

Where did you struggle?

What needs more attention?

That's part of becoming a better athlete.

But there's a BIG difference between studying your performance and allowing your performance to define you.

Maybe you didn't execute the way you wanted.

Maybe you made mistakes.

Maybe you simply weren't at your best.

LOOK AT IT.

OWN IT.

LEARN FROM IT.

But don't BECOME it.

Because your performance can give you valuable information about what needs to happen NEXT.

It cannot accurately answer the question:

“WHO AM I?”

Your strengths didn't disappear because you struggled.

Your training wasn't erased.

And the athlete you've been becoming didn't suddenly stop existing.

A difficult performance can be an incredible TEACHER.

Let it teach you.

Just don't let it NAME you.

Your PERFORMANCE is feedback.

It is not your IDENTITY. ⚔️

— You can prepare for competition.

You can have a plan.

And then competition starts...

and gives you something different.

The opponent adjusts.

The pace changes.

Something that usually works...doesn't.

That doesn't mean your preparation failed.

It means it's time to ADAPT.

Great competitors don't need everything to go according to plan.

They READ what's happening.

They REACT to what's in front of them.

They ADAPT and keep competing.

The plan can change without the standard changing.

See what's in front of you.

Adjust to what the moment requires.

EXPECT TO ADAPT. ⚔️

— Competition isn't supposed to make everything easy for you.

It's supposed to push back.

The opponent is going to challenge you.

Things aren't always going to go according to plan.

You may make mistakes.

You may fall behind.

You may have to work harder than you expected.

And none of that means something is going wrong.

It's COMPETITION.

If you're surprised by the resistance, you weren't ready to compete.

A Winning Mindset doesn't walk into competition expecting a clear path.

It expects to be challenged.

Because when you expect resistance, you don't have to be surprised by it.

You can meet it.

You can adjust.

You can keep competing.

You expected a competition.
Competition showed up.
Now COMPETE.

Don't expect it to be easy.
EXPECT RESISTANCE. ⚔️

— Yesterday, we made the mental rep smaller.

Today, give it a purpose.

Before you visualize, ask yourself:

What am I training in this rep?

Maybe it's confidence.

Composure.

Aggressiveness.

Patience.

Decision-making.

Body language.

Trust.

Your response under pressure.

Once you know the purpose, build the moment around it.

Don't just see yourself performing.

See yourself committing to your approach.

See yourself calm, ready, and trusting your preparation.

Now you're not just watching yourself perform in your mind.

You're training something specific.

Every physical rep has a purpose.

Your mental reps should too. ⚔️

— Visualization doesn’t have to mean mentally rehearsing your entire performance.

Sometimes the most powerful mental rep is much smaller.

One moment.

One shift.

One at-bat.

One possession.

One serve.

One pressure situation.

One start.

One response.

When you shrink the rep, you can make it more specific.

You can see more.

Hear more.

Feel more.

You can rehearse exactly what you want to notice, how you want to respond, and how you want to execute.

Instead of trying to mentally cover everything...

Train the moment that matters.

Then repeat it.

Because quality mental reps aren’t about how much you visualize.

They’re about how intentionally you train the moment. ⚔️
