January 2025.

This is the first of 12 reflections I’ll be sharing one for each month of 2025. It’s wild to think the year is already behind us. Around this time last year, I was serving in Student Government when SSU faced major budget cuts. My major was eliminated.

Even so, I held an elected position and chose to use my voice to advocate for our community. That experience taught me a lot about resilience, responsibility, and the importance of showing up even when it’s hard.

I’m learning how to balance duty with self-care, and I’m grateful for the moments outside and with loved ones that keep my fire burning. 🔥

It was the honor of my life serving in SSU’s official student government. I think it’s time I tell yall the story.

In my first year I campaigned for Senator of Diversity and Won. 🏆

I was then honored to be selected to be promoted to VPEA (Vice President of External Affairs) by the board before mine.

During my time as VPEA I served as the CLO (Chief legislative officer) of Associated Students. Spearheading a Taskforce dedicated to student civic engagement. Serving as a member of student senate, marketing committee and more. @as_sonoma

Serving as one of our CSU system wide representatives in CSSA, I traveled all over California representing Ssu student interests.

Within CSSA further I honed my leadership. Making systemwide allys and friends. While also successfully competing with other CSU student leaders to be elected a member of the student trustee selection committee, then elected as its vice chair. @csustudents

As reelection season came around I recruited a coordinated campaign the size of the entire board its self. I searched all over campus for the most qualified candidates and we became the United Seawolfs. @unitedseawolves_

I was set to campaign for student body president when I received unfortunate news. Due to a national shortage in the essential medication I take, I was advised by campus disability services to petition to medically withdraw from some courses due to the strong case of my medical emergency.

My request was approved of course but due to this, I fell 2 units below the minimum requirement for officers. Despite meeting the GPA requirement. An exemption clause exists however it must be deemed an extraordinary circumstance by the University VP of Student Affairs.

Now this is where the story takes a dark turn. However, I’m out of space continuing in comments:👇🏽

My goal is to spill all the tea 🫖 is it piping hot? 🥵
