The results are in! With a final tally of 179-70 across our three platforms, Riley the Golden Retriever advances to the next round of the NYC Dog Mayor primaries over Sully the Australian Shepherd-Border Collie! Sully won on both Twitter and Facebook but Riley’s devoted Instagram following was too big to match! We’re sad to see Sully go, not least because he was our very first canine-didate to join the race and is even the model for our logo! (He’s also a great roommate.) Check back for our updated bracket, and for the next primaries election on Wednesday 8/17 between Xavi the Catahoula Leopard Dog and Gizmo the Pug! #DogMayorNYC

NYC Dog Mayor Campaign Spotlight: Sully the Australian Shepherd-Border Collie! Location: Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn Campaign slogan: No dogtatorship, only dogmocracy! Bio: Named after the famous pilot Chelsey Sullenberger —and, we like to think, John Goodman’s immortal character in Monsters, Inc.— this Australian Shepherd-Border Collie mix was rescued from a shelter in 2010. Since then, the mild-mannered good man has been cracking down on nefarious squirrels plaguing the city streets and is campaigning to fix the global supply chain to guarantee free jerky, as well as fair pay for all pilots. He lives in the neighborhood of Stuyvesant Heights with his owner, a historian named Peter. #DogMayorNYC
