We ❤️ @uscedu. It’s been the honor of a lifetime watching my children graduate from @uscgouldlaw and @uscmarshall and I’m forever grateful from graduating from @yogausc inaugural teaching program. Teaching at @uscgouldlaw has also been the joy of a lifetime, but I will never forget where I came from and how the @machinistsunion made it possible for our family to have a home and food on the table. A full circle moment now I have been able to join with fellow amazing faculty @unitedfaculty_uaw to support my colleagues and to ensure they will be able to Afford a home, food, parking, and maybe even be able to help their own children afford a USC education. Please join us and ask @usc.president to respect the vote and all faculty and bargain in good faith. Happy Labor Day weekend and please share and tag @uscedu and your friends to show support. Fight On! ❤️✌️

LA Moves 2025 was a fruitful experience—one that brought us back to what matters. A week of learning, growing, and moving together in a space rooted in connection🧡

Thank you to everyone who showed up fully. Your presence, your openness, your willingness to lean into the process is what makes this intensive what it is. It’s more than training—it’s about being centered in dance, and flowing with joy and belonging alongside one another.

We’re grateful to continue this mission at LA Moves, holding space for artists to connect, evolve, and move with intention.🪴

Congratulations to our LA Movers 2025🫂—you are now a part of this community in a real way. We hope to see you again, and to welcome new faces into the space

See you in 2026!!

My research centers around what I call the Morphology of A.F.R.O. Kinetic Memory—a framework for examining how movement knowledge is preserved, transformed, and transmitted across generations. This work forms the foundation of my methodology and pedagogy, which I call Ethnocorporeology, a term I have trademarked.

Ethnocorporeology is the study of not only what the body is doing, but what the body is saying. It investigates movement as a living archive of cultural memory, identity, history, and human experience, recognizing the body as both an expressive and epistemological site through which knowledge is embodied, communicated, and inherited.

My research, study, and practice encompass social and folk dances from diverse cultures spanning the fourteenth century to the present. By examining movement traditions across historical periods and geographic regions, I explore both continuity and transformation within embodied cultural practices.

Today, for example, I taught the dancers at Herrang Dance Camp the Virginia Reel which is connected to the Scottish Reel, tracing movement structures found in these dances reappear in the Big Apple dance.

This comparative approach helps illuminate how choreographic ideas migrate, evolve, and are recontextualized across communities and generations while taking on new cultural meanings. Enjoy

Incase you’re interested the song I used was Red haired boy by Billy Strings and Don Julin it was a popular tune to dance the Virgina Reel
