man. what a summer. I admit it was difficult to find the words to describe this summer; one filled with great joy and great sadness.

The first thing that comes to mind when I think back on this summer was the loss I suffered from my baby boy. Can’t believe it’s been a month already. But I know he’s happy wherever he is, free of pain, and judging anyone who dares to meet him in the eye.

The second thing that comes to mind are the adventures. It felt like I was away from home for half the summer! I mean I went to Disney for a week (why did I think Florida in June was a good idea?), upstate New York, Virginia Beach, and many other smaller excursions around the dmv. The memories I made and pictures I have I will cherish and thank God for the blessing they were to have.

A few things some might not know:
𝐈 𝐠𝐨𝐭 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐤
𝐈 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐎𝐳 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐂𝐓
𝐌𝐲 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭’𝐬 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐝
𝐈 𝐚𝐦 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐮𝐧𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐝 :((
𝐈 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧
𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐈 𝐭𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐭 𝐕𝐁𝐒 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐲 𝐜𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐡

It feels like so much happened yet nothing at all. There were days where I felt so busy and days where life was boring. Maybe that’ll change once I get a job *cough cough*.

While I am grateful for the chapter that was summer I am much too ready to turn the page and start autumn, my favorite season. So while I hope your summer was wonderful and memorable, bring on the spooky 👻🍂

The closing of @the_8_x_10 in a few short months will be a huge blow to the DMV music scene. That room holds a ridiculous number of memories for a thousands of people. It’s where I photographed some of my first concerts. It’s where some of my favorite artists got started, jams with surprise sit-ins lasted all night, and the floor literally bounced when the crowd was fully locked into the groove. It’s an intimate stage for artists’ passion projects and a proving ground for up and coming DMV bands. It’s where so many people discovered their new favorite band. The 8x10 is a true gem. Thank you to the owners, staff, sound guys, and lighting designers who made it so much fun. Fingers crossed whoever takes over that space understands what they’ve got and keeps the jams alive.

Here are a few of my favorite 8x10 photos from over the years:
