Becoming a lawyer doesn’t magically happen when they hand you the certificate. It happens in the daily practice of making mistakes and pretending you have it all together.

Meet Oladiran Peace, The Director of Programmes

She enjoys reading books, watching movies and series, eating good food, hanging out with friends and family, generally just enjoying life.
Her dislikes? two faced individuals and, of course, the current state of Nigeria.

Peace’s recalls her most exciting experience in the Maritime Forum as the first ever meeting she attended in 2019.
“It was a spelling bee/ first meeting of the semester and I just loved how exciting it was with everyone acting like a big family.”

Kindly Introduce yourself.
-I’m Oladiran Peace, a 400level Law student.

What post do you hold in the Maritime forum?
-Members Activity Officer

How has the Forum impacted you thus far?
- It’s been amazing, I love learning new things everyday and being a part of the Maritime family has really made my perception of the Maritime industry even better

Have you held other posts in the faculty? Which?
-I was once the Welfare Secretary of the ADR Society and a member of Welfare Committee for LSS

How has your experience in the law faculty been so far?
-Uhm not bad, I genuinely like law as a course but my interest has really taken a downside with the situation of the country.

How has the strike period been for you, what have you engaged in?
-Tbh it’s been frustrating, but I have tried making good use of it by finally starting up my online footwear store 🥳(lush footwears), been taking online courses, reading novels, binge watching movies and series, sleeping, eating😂 and I just recently started reading my school books again.

Who/what inspires you?
-I don’t have a specific role model but music is a great inspiration for me whenever I feel down.

What is/are your area(s) of interest in law?
-Commercial, Company, Tax, ADR and Maritime Law.

Asides law, what are your other interests?
-I’m an entrepreneur so my interest is in making money lol, I have a liking for the entertainment industry especially acting( I once wanted to be one🙈😂).

How do you spend your leisure time?
-I read novels especially of the thriller genre, I listen to music a lotttt, binge watch movies and series( just started The Office after recently finishing Suits), I like anything food too😌.

Where do you see yourself in the nearest future?
-Well if there’s no future strike, I should be done with school by next year 🙏🏽and I really would love to actually practice law but definitely not in Nigeria.
