Throughout my life, there have only been a handful of moments when I received an answer so clear from my Tahajjud prayers. One of them was when I prayed for guidance on whether I should pursue the dream of studying at Ewha. The answer was so clear that, from that moment on, I was never once confused or afraid about pursuing it.

For five years, I applied for scholarship after scholarship, almost without a break, just to chase this dream. Those who know me will know the ups, downs, twists, turns, and countless moments when I almost gave up. But I guess this is where my toxic trait of never knowing when to stop running (or, to put it more positively, persistence. Hahaha) finally came in handy.

People often asked me, “Why would you leave behind the comfortable and stable life you had to start again from scratch in a foreign country?”

The truth is, my dream of studying abroad evolved over time. What started as a childhood dream of experiencing four seasons eventually became something I felt I needed to pursue. My years in the working world made me realize that I still had so much to learn, and that I needed to step outside everything familiar to discover what I was truly capable of.

I wanted to meet people from different backgrounds, keep pushing my limits, make myself useful to others, build a better life for my family, and eventually pursue a career with a purpose that could remind me why I should keep going when things get hard. And somehow, Ewha gave me a place to begin all of that.

I am incredibly grateful for the knowledge, experiences, professors, and especially the amazing women I met here. All passionate, hardworking, supportive women from all over the world who are striving to create change in their own ways.

Of course, life here wasn't always rainbows and unicorns (despite what I usually post on Instagram, haha). But overcoming every challenge, one step at a time, has made this journey all the more meaningful.

And perhaps.. the greatest gift of this master's journey is that it helped me get to know myself better than ever before.

Thank you so much Ewha!💚
If the stars align, let's meet again in the right time☺️

A very special post for someone who has been one of the most important people in my Ewha journey.

@profhannahjun was actually the person most responsible for my decision to choose Ewha GSIS in the first place (and somehow, she also ended up being the person most responsible for deciding whether I could graduate or not 😁)

Long before I met her, I first came across her work through one of her papers, which somehow ended up helping me a lot during my years of working.

We eventually connected through a few exchanges on social media, which led to us meeting in person. I still remember ending that conversation in 2022 by saying, “I hope by the next time we meet, I’ll get to greet you as your student.”

And somehow.. it came true. 🥹

Dear Professor, thank you for believing in me, challenging me, guiding me, and being there for me since day one (okay, technically, day minus 1485 😂)

Thank you for being my anchor not only in the classroom, but also through all the uncertainties, struggles, and little victories along the way. There were so many moments when I questioned myself, and somehow, you always managed to help me find my way forward.

I am especially grateful that you gave me the space to grow. Not only as a student and researcher, but also as a person.

Looking back, I think one of the greatest blessings of choosing Ewha was not just getting the chance to study here, but getting the chance to meet people who would leave such a meaningful mark on my life. You are definitely one of them.

Thank you for being part of this chapter, Prof. Jun. I am so, so grateful that our paths crossed. Cheers to many more "adventures" together in the future!!💗

One of the best ways to get to know my students better is to share a meal with them! There’s something special about eating together in fellowship — and I hope to have that time with more of my students (and your families!) in the days to come. 🙏🏻🌸
