We spent a couple hours at the beach today. What I took from the beach today: There was a brother and sister near us “Luca, Luca.....wait, Luca watch me! Luca, Luca....Luca, race you to the water!” Now replace Luca with Tod in my mind that’s what I heard. As I watched them I longed for those days back again. I wondered if that brother who clearly thought his little sister was a nuisance to him would someday be her best friend, if he would one day seek her out for company and compassion. I saw an older woman sitting in her chair at the edge of the water something about this woman made me immediately think about my mother in law. If my mother in law was here with us this is what she would be doing. Which also brought me back to those great days when Nonna would bring the kids to the beach, mostly Tod because Haleigh was a little too attached to mommy to go. They would come home with a bucket full of shells Nonna loved her shells. Today we came home with a bucket full of rocks. John has started collecting rocks from the beach they may not be shells but I think there is a little bit of Nonna in that too. Lastly there was a group of women sitting behind us. They were pretty close to us I got a kick out of listening to them. I gathered from their conversation that they have been friends for years, had oodles of stories from their past and spent vacations together when they could. I thought this is how we will be at least I hope this is how we will be. My besties and I hopefully eventually we will trade nights on Kelly’s patio for short beach getaways together. Yes I got all of that from 2.5 hours at the beach today. Memories of the past, living in the moment and seeing what I hope the future to be. What a beautiful day! #thebeachwascalling #messages #takeaway #summerdays #grateful #hopeful #nostalgic
