The Cobb County School Board of Education cuts the mic of a student during public comment after the student asked a board member to get off of their phone. They then removed him from the meeting. Two parents spoke up for the student and were also removed. Video footage from Becky Gaunt, Cobb County Courier.

The republicans on the board have thoroughly lost the plot. #cobbcounty #gapol

Yesterday’s election sent a clear message: the people of District 14 want leadership that listens and puts our community first.

While campaigns may bring disagreement and strong opinions, no voter should ever feel targeted or intimidated for participating in the democratic process.

I remain committed to bringing people together across party lines to protect our rural communities and fight for the future of Bartow County.

This will not stand.

A white woman said she showed up for her grandmother — the first woman in her family to vote.

But history tells the whole truth: Black women and Black men helped fight for women’s right to vote, while still being denied full access to the ballot themselves.
