“A winner is a dreamer who never gives up.”

I’ve run many marathons, but this one hit differently.

For the first time in a while, the goal wasn’t about running faster, chasing a PB or ticking another marathon off the list. It was about getting back to something I wasn’t sure when I’d have again.

Injuries have a way of making you realise how much you take for granted. The freedom to run, the feeling of a good session, the excitement of a race, and even the privilege of pushing yourself when things get hard. The build-up wasn’t perfect. There were good days, bad days, doubts, and moments where the road back felt longer than expected.

But somewhere along the way, I realised I was so focused on getting back to where I was that I wasn’t appreciating how far I’d already come.

Yesterday was a reminder that sometimes we get so caught up in the outcome that we forget to celebrate the process. And for me, simply being back on that start line, running 42.2km and doing something I genuinely love was a win in itself.

To share that experience with friends who have supported me along the way, and to be part of a race honouring Nelson Mandela, whose story represents so much resilience and perseverance, made it that much more special.

I’ve crossed many marathon finish lines, but this one reminded me why I started in the first place.

Grateful to be back. Grateful to move. And never taking any of it for granted again.

We are so back. ❤️‍🔥

Special mention to @thisisjrad for getting me through what’s been a tough few months mentally

2nd at @hwbjoburg10km today, three Olympians on the start line, that’s the standard of Jobrug racing and I love it!
In the heat climbing uphill the second 5km thousands of people were running down towards us cheering and I had a proper goosebump moment ! The struggles of women in South Africa has been such a forefront conversation, as it should be to see change, and days like this make me believe how possible it is, when thousands of strong like minded people come together and community isn’t something you can describe, it’s something you truly feel!!!!! This is the community I want my fast growing son to learn from ❤️❤️❤️

IRONMAN World Championship. Kona. 🌺🇿🇦

A dream come true and a day I’ll never forget.
Months of preparation, thousands of kilometres, early mornings, sacrifices, doubts and so much belief all leading to one start line on the Big Island.

Kona has a way of testing you in ways you can never fully prepare for. It’s a race that demands respect, challenges you physically and mentally, and reminds you why you fell in love with this sport in the first place.

There are lessons to take away, things to celebrate and plenty to reflect on. But above all I’m incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to race on this stage with the worlds best.

Thank you to my family, friends, coaches and sponsors for believing in me and being part of this journey. Your support means more than you know.

Kona, you were special. Until next time. 🌺🤙🏼
