(KO)NSTELASI REPRESEN(TA)SI

This exhibition invites the public to explore the constellation of visual languages presented by nine young artists: Agnes Indah, Betiq Laiqa, Diandra Lamees, Fatih Jagad Raya, Flavia Giulietta, Maria Aparesina Marceline, Syifa Chaerunissa, Trio Muharam, and Luqi Lukman. Curated by Inas Annisa Aulia, the exhibition highlights the aesthetic diversity of contemporary art. Unlike the visual tendencies in Bali, which are deeply rooted in tradition, or Yogyakarta, known for its surrealism and pop art, the works in this exhibition represent a plurality of forms rich in experimentation. This plurality gives rise to works that can be interpreted through allegory, new forms of representation, and the deconstruction of signs, often demanding a contextual understanding that extends beyond the purely visual.

The artists’ creative explorations in this exhibition are categorized into three main subthemes:

Classical Re-exploration: First, Trio Muharam and Luqi Lukman reconsider and delve deeper into a classical technique within the art world: printmaking.

Socio-Political Critiques: Second, political and social subthemes are voiced through Fatih Jagad Raya’s work on deforestation as a form of structural oppression; Maria Aparesina Marceline’s examination of the New Order era’s political policies within the domestic sphere through the medium of rice; and Syifa Chaerunissa’s commentary on the lack of appreciation and the burden of gender expectations in the practice of cooking.

The Personal and Intimate: The third subtheme delves into more personal and intimate territories. Diandra Lamees evokes family memories through New Year’s celebration dishes, Flavia Giulietta reconstructs the self through the affection of loved ones, and Agnes Indah represents the beauty of the human life journey through the visualization of flowers. Meanwhile, Betiq Laiqa plays within a liminal space to visualize memory by re-photographing plastic-layered archives, symbolizing visual degradation.

Together, these nine artists construct a critical dialogue that celebrates a rich diversity of perspectives.

Konseleberasi
