Getting pumped for Cordi!

My cycling buddies know that I am willing to ditch any MTB race but NOT The Cordillera Challenge. As I train for this epic challenge, I want to share some stories and photos about how The Cordillera Challenge transformed my cycling journey.

This adventure ignited my passion for endurance and adventure cycling, and it showed me the powerful impact cycling can have on the environment. Let's start this trip down memory lane with GCC4!

The Globe Cordillera Challenge 4 -- 2013

I was a mountain biking newbie when my friend and cycling advocate Chris ( @manong_chris , @pedalarawan ) invited me to join the Cordillera Challenge, organized by the Cordillera Conservation Trust and Globe Telecom. The event raised funds to plant trees and establish nurseries in various Cordilleran towns.

Back then, I didn't quite grasp the difficulty of this "challenge." With only a month to train, I decided to go for it anyway, knowing I'd be with friends. The route? A grueling 75km course from Tublay La Trinidad and back, featuring mountain passes, unpaved roads, and forested areas.

"Tough and painful" wouldn't even begin to describe it, but hey, that was just the start!

Check the photo captions for more details!
