A few of our favourite places around the Roseland 🌿

One of the best things about staying at Chyrond is how much there is to discover nearby, from harbour-side drinks and beach lunches to peaceful walks, local produce and slow afternoons.

Start in St Mawes, with food and drinks at St Mawes Hotel, beautiful harbour views and cocktails at The Idle Rocks, or head to The Boathouse in Portscatho for a relaxed brunch.

For something a little more laid-back, The Hidden Hut at Porthcurnick Beach is always worth a visit, while The Nare Hotel is perfect for a special lunch or a drink with one of the best coastal views around.

Closer to Chyrond, we love Melinsey Mill for its peaceful waterside setting and homemade treats, and St Just in Roseland Church for history, riverside walks and one of the most tranquil corners of the peninsula.

And don’t miss Pendower Farm Shop, packed with fresh local produce, Cornish ingredients and brilliant pop-up feast nights.

Then come back to Chyrond, put your feet up and plan the next one. 🤍

Stay somewhere with a story.

Yet more fabulous produce from @pendowerfarmshop … some beautiful, flavourful free range chicken breasts, which when roasted with mushrooms, porcini, bacon and onions in a mushroom stock and served with mafaldine pasta and sage butter filled cheese scones for a fabulous autumnal supper.

Oh my days!! This was sooo good. Seafood fideua. Shellfish at its finest and yet at its heart such a simple dish. A good stock is the basis. Lobster glace stirred through with some finely chopped leek and brown crab meat and a splash of Marsala slowly infused. Some shallots sweated down then the scallops sautéed in the shallots jus snd some butter then left to rest. The mussels were added to the stock and the fideua noodles were then fried lightly in the scallop butter until lightly golden and then the stock was slowly added, just like you’d do with a risotto (but it takes less time 😘) . Stir through some white crab meat. Then assemble with the scallops and mussels. Ideally cover with some butter paper or greaseproof and place in an oven for 5 to 10 minutes. Serve with some french toast.
This tasted absolutely fantastic and my thanks go to Robyn at @pendowerfarmshop for yet more beautiful seafood.

Yaay fish Friday!!!
It’s nearly mid September, the sun is shining, I’m in one of my happiest places and I have some beautiful Dover sole to cook on the @cadacdometicuk . The fish came from my favourite holiday fish & farm shop @pendowerfarmshop
It was smothered with a chili and seaweed butter and BBQs over poached leeks and fennel and served al fresco with black rice and a tarragon & caper hollandaise

Yaay.. fish Thursday 🤨🤗
Back in one of our happy places and able to cook some beautiful mackerel fillets from @pendowerfarmshop . Marinated in some freshly squeezed orange and black pepper, lightly poached above a rich tomatoey ratatouille and then torched skins, served with sautéed new potatoes. Absolutely fabulous. 😋😋😋

Oh Portscatho 💙

The perfect afternoon and evening in one of our favourite places, with a lot of our favourite people.

Golden light bathing the harbour. Sea shanties from @harbourclubportscatho filling the air. Ice cream moustaches from delicious @scathosgelato. Doesn’t get any better.
