POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
It’s been exactly 9 years since I married Mike.

He’s been there throughout EVERYTHING, showed humor when necessary and held me when I needed to cry. No matter how tough things have been, he’s somehow made life better—for all of us. Today, I found this post from my cousin, Farrah, and it really sums up what I’ve been feeling. She shared these engagement pictures (from 2014) along with this text:

I saw something as I glanced at this memory today. As an artist, I am most comfortable when I’m expressing myself in an creative way, but it’s more for me than just being creative. I like to tell stories with my photos. I like them to be accurate and true to the person in the photo. I’m sure that comes from my work as a family history consultant.

Looking back on our ancestors and seeing their stories, you can learn so many things about family and yourself. I guess with that experience, I viewed these photos today and reflected on the challenges that my cousin, Elisa, has gone through.

She was diagnosed with stage four melanoma and given two years to live. (These pictures were taken a few years before that diagnosis.)

Mike has faithfully rescued her repeatedly through his actions and love, his sympathy to her suffering, and I’m sure a shared fear at times.

I love how these pictures represent Mike and Elisa. Notice him picking her up and removing her from the oncoming danger of certain death. If only to give her a little more time. These pictures perfectly capture their relationship—as Mike has struggled to rescue her from what looked like certain death (the doctors only giving her two years to live) and Elisa SMILING because she’s putting full trust in Mike and God despite everything.
Love you both,
Farrah

*****

Happy anniversary, Mike. You have completely enriched my life and been such an INCREDIBLE father. I remember the moment I decided to marry you. It was because I thought, “If my kids could grow up to be like anyone, I want them to be like Mike.” That’s when I knew I’d want to say “yes” if you ever asked me, and it’s been the best decision of my life. I hope you know how much all of us love you! YOU are my miracle.
All my love,
Elisa
