We’re excited to share the winners of the @jriegerco Road to Jerez Cocktail Competition! 🎉🥃

Last week at the National Finals at Vintage Green Rooftop, Imbibe Managing Editor @PenelopeBass had the honor of serving as emcee and announcing the official winner. Congrats to Aleka Ross (@alekaontherox), whose cocktail, Sherry Beneath My Wings, earned top honors and a trip to Jerez with distillery founder Ryan Maybee (@roundtablerye) and master distiller @NathanJPerry.

The Road to Jerez Cocktail Competition celebrates the enduring ties between Kansas City-based J. Rieger & Co. and Jerez, Spain—dating back to the distillery’s founding in 1887. Inspired by the pre-Prohibition practice of adding a small measure of fortified wine to the medley, Rieger Kansas City Whiskey is an award-winning blend of straight bourbon, straight rye, and light corn whiskeys finished with a touch of 15-year-old Oloroso sherry from Williams & Humbert.

Follow J. Rieger & Co. on the Road to Jerez with the September release of Monogram Solera Reserve 2026, a rare expression from J. Rieger & Co.’s one-of-a-kind solera program. Crafted using 50–100-year-old Oloroso sherry botas from Jerez, this limited release will be available online and at the distillery.

A throwback because it’s basically my drink of the week EVERY week! Heavy Glow is the heavy hitter for good reason - a sparkling rosé that’s so bright you have to squint. Then drink more. I turned 42 today. What a time to be alive, and to be more awake than ever before. It felt so good to lean into being celebrated from a variety of humans, across different groups and parts of the world. Savoring being seen just as I am. Thank you for the love and the grace, it’s received. 💜🌸🌲🐍

Hurray! I made it! On the very last stretch of January, still a personal recap of 2025.
Last year was all about juggling life as a food journalist and being Remus’ mum, but having the great fortune of meeting great new people through both work AND motherhood, and weaving old friends back in, often around a table, all blending into one beautifully messy rollercoaster. 🎢🫶🏻
