The Spanish-language news outlet @peninsula360press was founded in 2020 to provide critical information about COVID. In the years since, it's expanded to cover local elections, art, education, and more. Its coverage takes place beyond its website; the organization has a mobile radio cabin, collaborates with local theater groups, and one of its most beloved reporters on Instagram is a puppet named Ramiro. Today on COYOTE, reporter @paulckellycampos sits down with P360's cofounder to talk about why the Peninsula feels like the right place for a publication like this.

This story is available in both English and Spanish — check it out at coyotemedia.org! A group of women in "Vote Yes on Measure E" shirts watch a mustachioed puppet. COYOTE The Peninsula's Only Spanish-Language News Outlet Meets Latinx Readers Where They Are. (Sometimes With Puppets)

San Francisco celebrated El Grito on September 15, honoring both Mexico’s independence and Hispanic Heritage Month.

As part of the ceremony, a replica of Mexico City’s Angel of Independence was erected in front of San Francisco City Hall.

For Veronica Escamez, director of the community based organization @Casa_Circulo_Cultural, the statue’s presence was a message to the community: “you are here, you are part of this city, and your culture also belongs to this space.”
