🌟 Chapter leaders, don't forget! Every chapter is expected to send at least one representative to EMERGE 2026, taking place November 6-8.

EMERGE Rising Leaders Retreat is a leadership development experience designed to help students explore their values, strengthen their leadership skills, build meaningful connections across the fraternity and sorority community, and learn how to create positive change within their organizations and campus communities.

Interested in helping shape the experience? Looking to participate? Be sure to submit your registration by this Sunday October 25.

This is a great opportunity to invest in your growth as a leader while bringing new ideas and skills back to your chapter. We look forward to seeing representation from every chapter at EMERGE this November! ✨

Tradition ends where harm begins.

The strongest traditions are those that bring people together, build character, and create a sense of belonging without compromising anyone's wellbeing. As we observe National Hazing Prevention Week, we challenge the idea that harmful activities are a necessary part of membership or tradition.

At Penn State, we are committed to fostering organizations where respect, dignity, and care for one another define the membership experience. Hazing has no place in our community. Every student deserves the opportunity to belong without being subjected to harm.

Two is better than one💞 Hear from roommates turned sisters @allie_derop & @kaitlindamoree 🤗

“Kaitlin is my freshman year roommate success story! She’s my favorite person so when I found out she had joined the sorority, I was over joyed!! Our friendship as grown even more being in SDT. We go to chapter every Sunday together, and now I can do all the events with her by my side. It has given us a shared community and I am so glad we get to share this experience. I am beyond lucky to have her as my best friend, roommate and now sister forever.” - Allie

“As soon as Allie and I became roommates freshman year, it was clear that I had found a best friend for life. Allie is one of the kindest, funniest, and most loyal girls I know, and I truly can’t imagine Penn State without our friendship! After living together for the past two years, our bond has grown in so many ways and being in SDT has only made it stronger. I was initially nervous about COB, and transitioning into a sorority unconventionally, but Allie always made me feel welcome and loved. From roommates to best friends to sisters, I know I can always count on Allie’s support in everything, and I will also always have her back. SDT has brought us closer in ways I didn’t think were possible, and I’m so grateful to be her sister for life. I love u, Al!” - Kaitlin

National Hazing Prevention Week reminds us that creating a safer community is a shared responsibility.

Bystanders play a critical role in preventing hazing by recognizing warning signs, understanding the potential for harm, and having the courage to take action. Hazing thrives in silence, but prevention starts when we notice concerns, ask questions, support one another, and speak up when something doesn't feel right. Together, we can build a culture where belonging never comes at the expense of someone's wellbeing.

🚫 Myth: Hazing is just a tradition.
✅ Fact: Hazing is not a ritual of bonding. It’s an abuse of power that can cause physical, emotional, and psychological harm. True brotherhood, sisterhood, and belonging are built on mutual respect, accountability, and shared values, not shared trauma.

As we observe National Hazing Prevention Week, we encourage our community to challenge common misconceptions about hazing and help create membership experiences where every student feels safe, respected, and valued. Together, we can build organizations that strengthen individuals and create authentic belonging without causing harm
