Guide Highlight — Meet Per!

At 18 years old, Per left school in Gothenburg, Sweden, for a ski season in Chamonix—and 32 years later, he never looked back. After settling in La Grave in the early 1990s, he built a career that has taken him skiing and climbing across the globe for more than 25 years. From Norway and Greenland to Kamchatka, Japan, Svalbard, and Antarctica, Per has spent decades seeking out the world’s most spectacular ski descents with a view of the sea. “The ocean, like the mountains, has a lot of energy and power,” he says, a philosophy that continues to fuel his passion for ski expeditions. This season marks Per’s fifth journey to Antarctica with Ice Axe Expeditions, and despite all the places he’s explored, he’s still humbled and excited to return to the White Continent. Fantastisk alpinkurs med @sbo_svenska_bergsguideorg innan midsommar. Grymt gäng med klasskompisar och kompetenta instruktörer. Massa nya lärdomar, fina klättringar och nya ögon på hur man guidar i alpin miljö.

Nu övar vi några veckor på alla tekniker innan nästa kurs tar vid!

My random thoughts and hopefully helpfull tips from the first alpine guiding course.

I have not sorted out my notes yet so this is what I have in my mind fresh from the course. Instagram also failed me and some photos are missing the text. So adding that mitigating the most relevant risk, quick transitions and applying the right method for the terrain are important. I need more practise in this!

My background in outdoor education and having worked in the mountains with @eevamakela1
and @jussimuittari gave me an edge on this course.

The New Goxsheim is almost ready! Feeling so excited in heading back to Norway to Sail & Ski with my friend Tomas and the gang from Tahoe and Canada this month
A little history here:
First time boarded Goxsheim was in 2012 with my friend Per As, we guided Mateo”s team from Uk, since then big love for the higher latitudes. we have worked with Captain Charles Wara steady for 13 years, except Covid pandemic years .
Now time have passed we are all a bit older and Charles retired .
So boat have been refurbished, modernized and ready to go with fresh crew .
The adventure awaits and we are ready to go back to Thor lands and Viking country!

500+ days in a span of 3 years.

This one belongs to @perasmountainguide (mountain guide mentioned in the previous post). Still looking solid but it needs a bit of #tenderlovingcare .
It will be washed, patched up and sent back for hopefully another 500 days out in the field.
