Happy belated Birthday to the brilliant @anaygadgilofficial ! Our wizard on the keys, harmonium, piano, and pretty much anything musical you throw at him. But his greatest gift? His instinct, generosity and beautiful heart.

Three cities. Three concerts. Three completely unplanned musical moments
this year.

🎶 Udaipur. One of my forever favourites, Jaidev’s hauntingly beautiful Aapki Yaad Aati Rahi Raat Bhar. And once again, Anay bringing his own quiet magic to the moment.

🎶 Kolkata. A gentleman requested Aaoge Jab Tum Saajna, Ustad Rashid Khan Saab’s immortal rendition, as a dedication to his wife. In Ustadji’s own city, how could we refuse? I’d never sung it before, the band had never played it. And there was Anay weaving his magic on the piano, making the unfamiliar feel like we’d known it forever. (Of course @rajatprasanna adds his flute 🪈 magic as always !)

🎶 Saraikela, near Jamshedpur. On hearing the heartbreaking news of Asha Bhosle’s passing, we decided on an impromptu tribute. Anay simply stepped forward, instinctively finding every note I needed.

Three songs, three different musical worlds, and countless such moments over the years when this extraordinary musician has made spontaneity sound like destiny.

Because virtuosity is one thing. To listen with your heart, to hold space for another musician, and to make music breathe together that’s something rarer.

How blessed am I to share the stage and this journey with you, Anay ! Here’s to many more years of music, mischief, unexpected melodies and moments that can never be rehearsed, only lived.
