IRONMAN WISCONSIN 2026 RACE REPORT (LONG REPORT) I walked into Wisconsin with a working bike. I walked out with a brand-new bike while my original bike remained stuck in Wisconsin, waiting to be packaged and shipped home. Never buy a new f*cking bike the day before an Ironman. Let’s start with the swim. I never wear two pairs of goggles, but my friend Aaron Pendergraft told me that he always does. Considering how the weekend was already going, I decided to take his advice. Not far into the swim, I realized I couldn’t see clearly. I originally thought my goggles were fogging, but they were actually scratched. I called a kayak over, told the volunteer my goggles weren’t working, and pulled the backup pair from around my neck. The volunteer was amazed that I had two pairs and honestly, so was I. Aaron, thank you for saving my swim! I was also kicked and hit in the back of the head multiple times by another swimmer, but I kept moving and finished the swim. The bike portion of my race actually began on Thursday. I took my bike to a local shop to have only my pedals and wheels installed. I specifically asked them not to touch anything else, but shortly after dropping it off, I realized they were touching the chain and making other adjustments. I expressed concern and eventually took it back to the hotel. During a test ride on Friday, I discovered that my bike was no longer shifting properly. I returned to the shop around 1:00 p.m. and stayed until about 7:00 that night while the mechanic tried to figure out what had happened. He even spoke with my mechanic back home in Florida, but the bike still wasn’t fixed. I returned to the hotel devastated, with a bike that didn’t work, and realized I hadn’t eaten all day. That night, I continued trying to fix it while my mechanic guided me through texts and video calls. More in comments ⬇️

Unfortunately, my season was over before I had the chance to go to @gatewaycupstl and fight for a top 5, so finishing in the top 10 wasn’t bad either—especially for my first year competing in the best Masters event in the country @usamasterscup, against some of the best competitors at the highest level. If everything continues to go well, I’ll see if I can give it another try next year and improve on this result. A big thank you to @scarborough_matthew @bicycleaccidentlaw and @bikehustler72 @pioneermortgagefunding @jbbikeshop @uwmlending for their incredible support. Without them, this wouldn’t have been possible. And, of course, a huge thanks to my family, friends, and training partners for all their support along the way. @trek_land_o_lakes @perfectfitfixride @edwinbicycles @citrusparkbikes2011 @rttcycling @hdezsofia03 @enquiromasajenuria @evazhang_rttcycling @jerezfrank97 @the.cowboy.cyclist @r.osmay @pabloasantacruz @jaimito_92 @ciclismoelx @rubenrojoalvarez @dansull1van @chrisle711 @heidy_praderas @hanly_rxs_ @ale_ramirezzr @keith.legg73 @oscarbikes11 @heydertommy @difv61 @sdrabott @haroldbatista2 @eveliovarona.reyes @evannnboyle @aylena_quevedo @ezshredder @omdahleric @cuban_cycling_passion @zoicentro_ @jvalerofisio @anthony_yaness @mundo_bike_elche @davidp064 @hectorshabitat @divineinfx @jeromenadel @doug.zell @ross_cyclist_realtor @jacobglasstu @sarahhoal21 @gonebald @fraanmarcoo__ @just_mboults @ultimatetim_j @aylena_quevedo
