I must admit that my idea for a coaches and management discussion panel at The Podyum Coaches Convention & Expo was rooted in some adversity that I, myself, confronted for the first time in 2019. But before long, my observations of similar difficulties faced by other coaches and teams this past year sparked the conviction to really make this conversation happen.
All I can say is that it exceeded my wildest expectations.
Hats off to @soywillpowell and @spejs.dzem33 for putting together a panel of some of the most respected minds in the European American football community (with God knows how many championship rings between them); to Vincent Pervis for moderating the discussion; and to everyone in attendance who contributed to the dialogue. You guys helped facilitate an honest conversation that was a long time coming--one which I hope will become a staple at these events well into the future.
It was an honor to share the stage with each these legends. This dynamic discussion thoroughly reaffirmed what I already knew: that each of us--players, GMs, and coaches--are in this together; and at the end of the day, the good actors in our business still outnumber the bad.
This is why I love what I do.
