Australian Physiotherapy Association, congratulations on a wonderful conference.

Thank you for the opportunity to present why “Intentionally embedding Culture and Diversity is good for busines”.

Diversity needs inclusion to flourish.
I hope that I opened a door for other business owners to take a moment and reflect on small changes that they can make in their businesses that make a big impact for people.

We are afterall in the business of caring for humans. So the more we know about others (and ourselves) the better we can care for others.

IADMS is always a blast, but this year with the conference in Australia and the strong pole community there, we had quite the group of incredible clinicians and students who work with pole artists, circus artists, and dancers who incorporate aerial and acrobatics into their work.

I was thrilled to finally connect in three dimensions with folks whom I had been exchanging emails and zoom calls with, some for almost 10 years! There is just nothing that replaces face to face time over coffee (it is a very big thing in Melbourne) or a meal.

There was much knowledge shared in the formal presentations and workshops, but even more in the conversations between sessions and in the networking that will lead to new possibilities in the future.

So thankful for the experience and new connections. Can’t wait to do it again!

It is always a pleasure to be in Perth.

Thank you to Aarksara Foo who invited me over West this year and teach Manual Therapy for Voice Professionals.

The room was a mix of Speech Pathologists, vocal coaches and singing teachers, all who were open and collaborative about their experience, their aims and how we can work together.

Like all the courses I teach and facilitate, they are all different, depending on who is in the room. In Perth, we were able to take the content to where it needed to be so that the people in the room were able to find practical and immediately applicable strategies for their clients 👍

That’s it for the Voice Professionals’ courses this year.

If you are a Voice Professional and keen for 2027 - please comment or shoot me a DM.

The last course for the year will be the Module 2 & 3 (The Challenging Larynx & The Performance Voice) in October with the Osteos, Physios and Chiros - already looking forward to it!

What happens when the dancers take the lead?

Created and performed by our 2026 Pre-Professional cohort, SONDER brings together a collection of original contemporary works, each shaped by the individual voices, ideas and perspectives of the dancers themselves.

Inspired by the realisation that every person lives a life as vivid and complex as our own, SONDER gives our dancers the opportunity to take ownership of the entire creative process, from choreography and performance through to the wider presentation of the season.

It’s a celebration of emerging artists, individuality and everything they’ve been building together in the studio.

FRIDAY 11 SEPTEMBER 8PM 2026

🩰 What can force plates actually tell us about a dancer?

Returning to dance after injury isn’t as simple as feeling strong or being able to jump as high as you did before. Sometimes, what’s happening beneath the surface can tell us much more.

In our latest blog by @performancemed physiotherapist Will Beck explores how force plates can provide objective insights into strength, power, symmetry and how a dancer produces and absorbs force.

But force plates aren’t a magic answer, they don’t replace clinical assessment or determine when you’re ready to return to performance. Instead, they can be another valuable tool to help dancers and clinicians understand the body and make more informed decisions throughout rehabilitation.

✨ The goal isn’t simply better numbers — it’s a safer, more confident, and sustainable return to dance. Curious about how force plates could support your training or recovery?

Interested in force plate testing? Performance Medicine offers force plate assessments for dancers at their Melbourne clinic. Ausdance VIC members receive 10% off their assessment.
