There’s a certain easiness that comes with visiting a city multiple times.

There’s no rush, no strict list. You get to live at the city’s pace, notice routines, and let other people show you their version of it.

This was my fourth time in Oslo, and I got to spend time with friends and let them navigate me through their own versions of the city.

I got to try proper Norwegian food at @schroeder_oslo, an Oslo institution founded in 1926. We started with whale tartare with sour cream and potatoes, then went for the full meat feast: duck, reindeer, moose, sausage, potatoes, sauerkraut and cranberry sauce. The best aid for such a heavy dish? Traditional aquavit at 40°. And then strawberries and cream for dessert. So simple, yet it puts to shame every strawberry I’ve ever had before.

Came back to @himkok.oslo as I always do, and shared some time at the bar over a crisp, cold martini, poured masterfully.

Wine-wise, @territoriet and @rouleuroslo hit the spot.

For a caffeine fix, maybe I went to the most popular spots, but they prove time and time again that they are the absolute best: @fuglen and @timwendelboe.

Yes, I had to go Mexican. Chilaquiles at @lamayorrestaurant and mezcal at @perla_bar, with the excuse that I was hanging out with my Mexican BFF, who has lived in Norway for 12 years. So perfect excuse.

Then there’s the simplest and most comforting bite I always get while in town: a hot dog with a potato wrap called lompe, topped with potatoes and fried onions. Simple and good. @syverkiosken

One of my favorite flavors in the whole world is brunost, or brown cheese, so I took @erkhimkok to a waffle spot to have some. He took me to have whale bresaola in exchange, which I think is a pretty perfect deal.

Pastry-wise, @babbocollective and @thelittlepickleoslo . Zero notes.

I also happened to be there the day the king passed and I saw Norwegians bring flowers to the palace showing respect.

Overall, I’d call this fourth visit a total success.

Until we meet again Norge 🇳🇴 ❤️
