Hey girl 👋

Grace looks so incredible on you✨

Recently dove into one of the books in my Christmas Comfort and Joy bundle:

When Strivings Cease: Replacing the Gospel of Self-Improvement with the Gospel of Life-Transforming Grace

A quote that captivated me in the intro was this: “self control is something we can control, manipulate, and measure according to our efforts. Grace, on the other hand, is countercultural with its rejection of self-sufficiency and its relinquishing of power.”

How incredible is our God to give us that? Especially in today’s society. We live in a time where there is so much on a womens shoulders to achieve. If you’re not doing enough, you’re not enough. But God’s grace says YOU are enough.

It doesnt matter what society deems sufficient or even us. Speaking from a woman who has high standards of perfection 🥲. It matters what the Lord sees fit. And its exactly where you already are. 🙏🏻💕

For many years I rebelled against the wheelchair, not wanting to identify with it. I felt that if I used it I was giving up, or giving in, or just lazy.

I would force myself to walk everywhere at great risk, my ego the source of much suffering.

On the contrary, the chair has been a gift, an empowered tool for independence that allows me to stay in motion... A far cry from the couch.

The key, I've learned, is to flow, to roll smoothly with opportunity, manage my energy and direct my force accordingly.

Telling an ambulatory wheelchair user "it's good to see you walking!" is not the compliment you think it is. Walking is not superior to using a mobility aid. For a lot of disabled people, using a wheelchair (or a walker, crutches, cane, etc.) is a form of independence and freedom. Having difficulty with ambulating can be very limiting. A wheelchair can help a disabled person go further and stay out longer than they would ever be capable of while walking. There is nothing wrong with using a mobility aid and it's offensive to assume that a person is better off without one.
