Parasitó
Vedica Art Studios and Gallery, in collaboration with the Consulate of Mexico in Mumbai
August 28, 2025 | 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM
P. L. Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy, Mumbai, India
Susan Fraser-Hughes, Barbara Rachko, Carol Hartman, Joas Nebe, Justin Menendez, Fina Ferrara, Rajul Shah, Rajan Kapur, Colette Leinman, Arie Otten

Join us on August 28, 2025, at the P. L. Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy for Parasitó, a thought-provoking group exhibition presented by Vedica Art Studios and Gallery in collaboration with the Consulate of Mexico in Mumbai. Curated by Dorron Britz, Parasitó convenes a global roster of artists—including Fina Ferrara, Justin Menendez, Barbara Rachko, Susan Fraser-Hughes, Joas Nebe, and others—whose works interrogate parasitic systems of consumption and emotional erosion through performance, digital media, and visual art. Anchored by Ferrara’s live corporeal intervention and Menendez’s immersive video environments, the exhibition invites viewers into a space of critical reflection on ecological degradation, material decay, and the fragility of human connection.

Vedica Art Studios and Gallery is pleased to present Nudes, a solo exhibition by German multidisciplinary artist Joas Nebe, on view from July 3 to July 31, 2025, in Mumbai, India.

This exhibition features over fifteen works created using marker and color ink on found book pages. In this series, Nebe examines the human body through a conceptual lens, juxtaposing gestural nude forms with printed anatomical diagrams. By drawing directly over medical texts, the artist invites viewers to engage with questions of representation, knowledge systems, and the relationship between corporeality and visual language.

Nudes challenges conventional portrayals of the figure by merging the expressive and the analytical, prompting a layered dialogue on how the body is perceived, defined, and experienced. Through this formal and philosophical interplay, Nebe reconfigures the nude not as a passive subject of observation, but as a dynamic site of inquiry and reflection.

The exhibition marks an important contribution to contemporary figuration and conceptual drawing, and encourages viewers to consider how meaning is constructed across visual, scientific, and cultural frameworks.

Faces
Arie Otten
March 20 – April 6, 2025

Vedica Art Studios and Gallery presents Faces, an online-exclusive exhibition featuring Arie Otten. This series of 17 works, created in 2018 using acrylic and oil on wooden panels, explores the essence of human presence through fragmented expressions and layered textures.

Otten’s approach deconstructs familiar forms, inviting a closer gaze at the shifting nature of identity. Each composition reveals traces of emotion—unspoken, elusive, and fluid. The works resist fixed interpretations, instead offering a dialogue between presence and perception. What do we recognize in these faces? Do they reflect others, or do they mirror our own states of being?
